Prologue

I

n the house of the intelligent lies a book that holds all the secrets.

In the house of the brave lies a sword that cuts all it touches.

In the house of the kind lies a necklace with an exorbitant gem.

In the house of the zealous lies a pen that never runs out of ink.

If it were not for Scion University I would not be where I am right now.

I wouldn't be a renowned Engineer.

I wouldn't have all my riches and fortunes.

And most importantly, I wouldn't be locked up in a basement waiting for my death.

I was in the middle of regretting ever having to attend Scion University when all the memories of the school came flashing back - Fights, Love, Secrets.

A school that caters to the smartest and richest of students.

Scion University is a school that has been around for almost a century. The greatest politicians, actors, billionaires, pop stars, geniuses have attended this school. No one knows about it because the records have always been confidential. Only those who can go to this school have the knowledge that it even exists.

It provides all the different kinds of courses from engineering, doctoring, agriculture, game design, criminology, law, politics. It has everything. The university has always been very flexible to the requests of those who are studying in it. It gives everything that is needed by both the students and guardians. It has always been giving but of course, there is a fee.

Its fee is not the tuition, it was the rules and regulations that both guardians and students must follow. It was the fee of secrecy. The school was infamous for all the secrets that it hides, deep within its chambers, under its floors, high above the ceilings. It was a school of mystery. No one knows how it is able to hide from the world, it just does.

The school is located on an unknown island, there is only one way in and one way out - through an airplane that belongs to the school. Until now, no one knows where it is located on the map, and looking for it has always been against the rules.

The staff of the school is the best in the industry. Most of the time they would only teach for one semester, this was to prevent them from seeking too much information about the school. Of course, there is also those staff that had been there for the longest time. I believed those are the ones who knew all the secrets of the school.

Scion University runs in a caste and housing system. A system that I and my friends have messed up with.

It was a system that did not deserve any recognition. Imagine being in a school where those that are in a higher position have the right to give orders while those that are below cannot do anything but to follow.

The ranks were always decided at the start of every year, it does not change during the year.

As for the housing system, there were four.

Zeta the zealous, Beta the brave, Iota the Intelligent, and Kappa the kind.

On the first day of the first years, there would always be a sorting ceremony. It takes a whole day to sort a student.

It would start with a simple interview, follow by multiple exams. At noon, there would be a physical exam and right after that, there would be a simulation exam too. Students would have to stay with their houses during the first two years unless they are part of the top 5, otherwise known as the executive committee of the houses.

On the night of the first day, the sorting ceremony would finally end. Rules would be run over by the Principle, Madam La Quina. She would always emphasize on the three golden rules.

One - killing is prohibited.

As if anyone would dare to kill in a school but it was still one of the golden rules.

Two - leaving the island is prohibited.

Another questionable rule, how would anyone try to escape this school? It was a school surrounded by water.

Three - suicide results in the death of their loved ones.

As if inflicting death on yourself was not torture enough, the death of your family and close ones are also involved.

I can still remember having shivers down my spine, the first time that I heard all those rules.

The university was filled with the filthiest and richest of kids, they got away with anything, they would probably get away with murder if it were allowed.

I vividly recalled being ordered around by the third years when I first started there.

It was pathetic, I always thought they were in no position to order me around since their parents were the ones working for mine. Unfortunately, the system of the school allowed them to, and I had no choice but to follow. The first year in the school is always the hardest since these students are normally last in the caste system.

Of course, when I finally reached the second year, the tables turned because I made my way up and finally became an executive committee of the house.

My only goal was to change our house system, it was not easy, but I still was able to do it.

Of course, changing the system of my house was not the only thing I messed up with, I managed to mess up the school system as well, which is probably why it was messing up with me now too.

CLICK.

I heard the door of the basement unlock which shook me back to reality.

I scanned the basement and calculated all my choices in order to escape. I heaved a sigh before I finalized my plan. I was still trembling, afraid, but I managed to stand up and take an old pipe that was on the floor.

I positioned myself behind the door, ready to hit whoever enters.

Scion University was the one who placed me in this position, but they were also the ones who turned me into who I was today; someone smart, wise, and resilient.

If I was going to be murdered tonight, I was not going down without a fight.

My name is Athena Calleen Vandia and I used to be the President of the House of Iota.
