The Spy

The members of the Sui, Gui, and Cloudmantle clans cleared the battlefield after all the bodies had been removed, gathered their comrades' bodies, and then transported them to the carriage to be buried.

Burying corpses has been a long-standing tradition in this empire. It was against the law to burn bodies, with the exception of when a plague struck or there was a battle and there were too many bodies.

If the court knights found out how many individuals I had burned to ashes, they could have arrested me.

After being roasted by my pure fire, the ashes don't even remain.

The injured were led by the carriages in a different directions.

Before leaving, I double-checked the 10-kilometre radius around the battleground. I was unable to locate any suspicious individuals or activities.

This ambush could not have been discovered. The Azure Dragon family had governed this area of the lands for decades, and no one dared to speak of them, so an ambush was absolutely unexpected.
