Jason's Hidden Emotion

Chapter 4

They reached the dining room but Jason seem has no plans to let go of Emerald. He is holding her tightly and hide her from Tyler. While the latter on the other hand just smirked and shook his head. Emerald could not take the weirdness of her friend anymore so she whispered secretly in his ear. 

"Jason, what is wrong with you?" she said firmly.

"Nothing, what are you talking aboout? You sit next to me." he said as he piulled out a chair for her. 

Tyler was about to offer a chair to Emerald but Jason was as quick as a speeding bullet and slightly pushed Emerald to sit on the chair which he pulled next to him. Emerald felt a bit uncomfortable and she has been praying that the lovely couple which are Jason's parents will not notice. 

Their sitting order is Jack on the center while his wife is on his right and next to her is Tyler who has been staring at Emerald shamelessly while smiling. On his left is Jason who has been serious from the time Tyler came and showed interest to Emerald. Next to Jason is Emerald who is now feeling uneasy and can't barely move because of Tyler's stares and Jason's gloomy mood. 

"Okay people, let's eat." Jason's mother joyfully said. 

"Honey you forgot something." Jack said to his wife.

Rachel immediately knew what her husband was pertaining to and she apologetically faced everyone before she speak.

"Oh my gosh! How could I forget? Of course, we need to bless the food first." she said. 

After praying they started eating and Emerald was so delighted with the food that they serve. It is like she is eating in a fine dining restaurant though she have not gone through any yet. The food looks and smell delicious so Emerald is not surprised that they tasted just the same of how they look and smell.

"Did you like it Emerald?" Rachel asked.

"So much Ma'am. I mean Auntie, this is superb." Emerald replied.

"I'm glad you like it. Jason, why are you not eating son?" Rachel asked which made Emerald look at the man sitting next to him.

When she looked at Jason she did not expected what she saw. He is not eating indeed, he is just firmly holding his fork while staring intently at Tyler and when she looked at Tyler's direction, the man is looking at her. 

To caught Jason's attention, Emerald secretly kicked Jason's feet underneath the table and she was glad it was effective. She did caught his attention. When he looked at her with a questioning look, Emerald then smiled sweetly at Jason before she speak.

"Your mom is talking to you, earth on Jason." Emerald said while snapping her fingers on Jason's face. 

"What mom?" Jason asked while looking at his mom.

"I asked you why you are not eating?" his mother repeated. 

"I'm sorry, I was just thinking of something." Jason explained.

"What something senseless are you thinking again Jason?" his father asked. 

"Honey, we are in front of the food and don't shame our baby in front of his friends." his mother defended Jason. 

Jason just sighed heavily trying not to burst out. His father has always been like this to him. Everyday he would always made Jason feel like he has nothing good to do, he did nothing right and the worst is he always compared him to Tyler. 

How good Tyler is in his studies, how good Tyler is in sports, how a good son Tyler is and how lucky his father is to have him as his son. The comparison between him and Tyler from his father gets even worst and worst as years pass by. Tyler's absence did not hinder of the comparison. Jason thought that it would be stopped because Tyler moved to another country with his father.

But Jason was wrong, the comparison did not stop and the worst is when his father questioned his gender preference. He would always brag that women throw themselves at Tyler and he never lets them down. Tyler changes women the way he changes his underpants and he justify why he did that is because he don't want him to let this women down. They all should have a taste of him to be fair and they should just patiently wait for their turn. 

Is that even a thing that should be proud of? His father doubted his gender because he has never been with a woman. He never dated any woman neither spoke about admiration, his father never heard him talks about compilementing the opposite sex. In the middle of bragging to his friends how good Tyler is when it comes to playing women and how good he is in breaking their hearts Jack boldly asked his son if he is gay. 

Jason got offended to the core but he did not say anything. He don't want to be rude to his father and embarass him in front of his friends despite him being rude to his own son. He has no intention of disrespecting his father but what he said turns out to be rude for his father's interpretation when he said:''Being a real man Dad is not about breaking women's heart and playing with them like they are toys. A real man would never do that, a real man loves only one woman. Because I have no woman to show I am already gay? That is being so judgemental and coming from my own father"

After that incedent, his father became more aloof to him. He always shows that he is not fond with Jason but instead fond of Tyler. Now that he is back Jason knows that it is more hellish for him again. Especially that he will pursue his studies on the same university where he studies. The university is owned by Tyler's adopted father after all. 

"I think Jason is just so occupied because of our assignements." Emerald added trying to lighten up the dark aura. 

She quickly put food on Jason's plate which gives warmth into his heart. Another thing that he is thankful despite of his father despising him is he has Emerald. She is different from other women or men that he knew. She never let him feel that he is insignificant and apart from that she is so real and she always say what she feels. She is never pretentious and she would always look after him like a sister. 

Emerald often scold him for not being serious with his studies. She even told him to his face that he is abusing their friendship and he is taking advantage of her by always asking her to do their projects or assignments. She made him promise that he will study hard or else their friendship is over.

The woman is very kind yet very tough. She just has this ill feeling towards her unknown father. They are both broken because of their father the difference is that Emerald never knew her since she was born. She has been carrying hatred in her heart despite of her sweet nature lied underneath the monster that sooner will be unleashed if ever she will find her father.

"Wow, your girlfriend is very caring bro. You are so lucky." Tyler complimented.

"I know right." Jason replied sarcastically.

Now he can see that Tyler likes her so much. Jason knew his friend, he will not stop until he gets what he wants. He would desire a woman and will do anything to take her to his bed. After he is done he will throw the woman like a garbage. That is the last thing that Jaso would want to happen to his friend and if that will happen he does not know what he could possibly do to Tyler. 

Jason saw Tyelr's face darken as he confirm what Tyler said about him being lucky having Emerald as his girlfriend. He is sure that Tyler is now assuming that she is really his girlfriend. Thus, Emerald did not corrected Jason's assumptions which made Jason think that his friend do not like Tyler so she did not protested so he will stop. 

"Jason, is there something you are not telling us?" Jack asked. 

"Dad, let's eat first." he repiled.

Jason looked at Emerald who has a very confused face. Jason could sense the happiness and excitement on his father's face and when he looked at him he indeed has a very bright face while Tyler continued indulging the food. 

"We will talk this over after dinner all right in our office. I'm very excited." Rachel said while clapping her hands.

Indeed they continue eating and neither one of them did not say a word. Jason can feel Yyler's bad mood and he barely eats. He looks at him with disgust while Emerald is putting food on her plate. He felt good about and pleasant looking at Tyler whose face is full of irritation at the same time jealousy. 

"Thanks babe." Jason said to add fuel to the mood of Tyler that's already on fire.

"You're very much welcome BABE." she answered emphasizing the word 'BABE'

Emerald looked at him and shook her head after saying those words. For sure she knows what he is up to because Emerald is  very smart woman. She could easily pick up moreover she knows Jason for several months of being friends with him.
