“I think you’d freeze it before anything else, you’re up for breakfast?” Santiago chuckles, jumping from one ridiculous statement to one more reasonable. Maybe someone hit him hard on the head after I left, trying to knock some sense into it but knocked the remaining last bit out instead.
“I’d do what?” I ask, biting the words more than I want. He just looks at me with an amused smile on his face, leaning back against the wall. “You made the temperature drop this morning. I don’t know how or what but Ximena thinks you are a gifted wolf.”
I walk over to him, shaking my head in disbelieve. “I might be, but this sure as hell never happened before. I really made the temperature drop?” I ask, studying his face as he answers. “Yup, you made it cold enough for me to see my own breath form clouds in the air in front of me. Diego was quite impressed and so was I.” He says, his eyes amused and curious. “Wow.” Is all I mutter.

ADRIANA His paw pushes on my back, growling he keeps me nailed to the ground. Fuck. Okay, breath in, breath out. Maybe if I calm down, he will. I try to take deep breaths, though it’s hard with his heavy paw on my back and my mind racing a million miles an hour. Teasing me with questions about him, about our mating, about that vampire that somehow gave me sparks, about my mother, about my ancestors. Everything just turns into one big shit storm, when we spend some time together. Finally I manage my breathing to relax and the storm in my head calms down. Diego is still pushing me down to the ground, his emotions finally seeping into me. Anger, frustration, confusion, laced with a hint of disbelieve and worry. “Diego, you’re hurting me. SANTIAGOI walk out to the back of the house I assigned for Adriana’s family as long as they stay here. She follows me on foot and I can practically feel her eyes burning on my back, it’s cute how she says she doesn’t want me but her actions betray her every time.Though I have to say, when she gets on my nerves there is nothing cute about her. SANTIAGO I open up a mind link with Poté. “Poté, inform all patrolling wolves they are not allowed to let Adriana and her family off the pack grounds and come to my office.” “Yes Alpha, i’ll be there in five.” He answers instantly, though I can hear the confusion in his voice. I look around the room, shards of the coffee pot and mugs laying on the floor, pieces of bruschetta are spread all around and the tray is got stuck in the big Monstera in the corner. Great. While cursing myself that I had such an outburst, I clean up the mess I made. I check the old magic books Teresa brought and find out they are still unscathed. “Thank fuck, I think she would have poisoned us in our sleep if her precious books got harmed.” Diego chastises in the back of my mind. He lazily stretches his paws and lays down, watching me sort out the books, articles and papers on my desk. Moments later a soft knock on the door sounds before it swings open. ADRIANA I cut the link. I somehow missed you, goddess could it be more embarrassing, I hardly know the guy. Though I also know that somewhere there is some truth to it. I mean I had a great day but I couldn’t stop thinking about how it would be like to share it with him. He could be a real dick but when we weren’t fighting we were going really good and I liked every minute spend with him. Though that could also just be the bond’s work, pulling me to him. I don’t know, all I know is my feelings are all over the place. “What up, you’re trying to imitate a tomato or something?” Jenna chuckles, nudging my side with her elbow. Ximena looks up from her seat next to Rover, she is coloring in some drawings with him. He had her wrapped around his finger in no time. “Nah, I just said something stupid across the mind link.” I say softly and Jenna scootches closer. “Tell me.” “Okay, just don’t laugh okay. I told him I missed him today.” I mutter softly.

ADRIANA I bounce on his shoulder while he takes big steps towards the packhouse, rubbing circles with his thumb on the inside of my thigh. Sparks rush through me, making my insides mushy and my initial deviance completely forgotten. The warning dad and Ximena gave me a long lost shadow in my mind. My hands are acting on their own accord, tracing every line of the muscles on his back and when I reach the scars on his ribs a shudder rakes through his spine. “What are you doing?” He asks, his voice low and somehow vulnerable. “Some exploration.” I breath, a smirk creeping up on my face. Finally focusing on the bond I feel his emotions, longing, frustration, hurt and something a bit darker, something I can’t decipher. I’m amazed with the complex man that’s carrying me towards the packhouse, amazed by what I ignite in him, in what he ignites in me. I block out the darkness lingering in him and focus on the longing. ADRIANAI wake up to a cold and empty bed, my body feels like it’s been hit by a freight train and my arms are twisted above my head. I find them cuffed on the headboard and the realization that last night was real and not a nightmare dawns on me.Hurt, shame and numbness fills me. How could he, I’m his mate, what did I do wrong?
