Chapter 6

I felt like I had slept for hours when I felt a tap on my arm. Stirring around I looked up and saw Devllin looking at me, he looked at me with this ever so soft look on his face which was quickly wiped away once he realized I noticed. He cleared his throat " We are getting ready to land and they need you to put your seat belt on" I shook my head and sat back in the leather seat beside him. He began to tell me that his pack doesn't know much of me being here so we were to go straight to the pack house and not to make any stops until he felt comfortable with me leaving the house. Rolling my eyes "great I really am going to be held as a prisoner" I scoffed. "Kaedence, please try and understand it is nothing like that" he sighed. I pause for a moment and take in that he just said my name for the first time, it sent a small flutter of what felt like butterflies over me. I quickly brush off the feeling," sure, whatever" I huffed. He let out a sigh as if had been defeated or maybe he just didn't want to argue with me.

We start to descend and I felt the wheels make contact with the runway, letting out a sigh of relief with a small smile on my face. We stand and start grabbing our belongings. "Dillion?", I mind-link him "Hey what's up?" he says " I just wanted to let you know that I landed, I made it here" there was a long pause what he finally said "Landed?, what do you mean landed?" confused at his question I told "Quillayute, that is where their pack is from" I could feel that anger and confusion in him "What? that's not what father told me?!" he cut the mind link and I could no longer reach him. Grabbing my bags I began to walk off the plane, walking down the steps Devllin offers me his hand to which I refuse, I am just glad I didn't stumble again. I made it to the car before he could open my door. I quickly hopped in and closed my door. Shaking his head he just got in the car and we left.

We drove for what felt like forever, I watched as the roads twisted and bent with-in the tress, going up and down hills and the ocean as it splashed against the mountainsides. It had been raining so everything was wet but it honestly made everything look that much more beautiful. We made a sudden turn on a dirt road going up the side of the mountain, the road was steep and didn't seem to have any houses on it. The trees hovering over the dirt road suddenly opened up as we rounded a corner to reveal this huge house that sat at the top of the mountain, with a full view of the town that nestled below as well as the ocean behind us. The house seemed dark on the outside almost as if it were unwelcoming. I took in a breath as we pulled into the drive, I felt a wave of anxiety consume me.

Devllin put the car in park and walked around and opened my door, pulling me from the anxiety attack I was having I looked up at him and gave a dirty look, "I can open my own door" I snarled. He chuckled as he walked away, grabbing my bag from the back of the car he walked towards the house. Devllin looked at me as he walked up the stairs "you coming?" he asked. I felt my body stiffen as Tia came forward. "We going in there?" she asked, almost as if she was as scared as I was. I felt my feet start moving until I finally made it to the steps, taking each step one by one slowly making my way to the porch where Devllin waited for me. I looked at the huge front doors that seemed to be made from solid oak that was stained black. Devllin opened the door that seemed to open ever so slowly.

I was taken back as we stepped in to find that the inside was nothing like the outside. The inside felt welcoming, had more of a family feeling. It opened up into a huge entryway, with a room off the left that looked like an office. To the right smelled like the kitchen, whoever was in there sure had the house smelling great! Devllin shows me the way up the winding stairs to the 3rd floor. We go down a long hall before stopping at a door. He opens that door to reveal a huge room that seems to be the size of a small apartment. The room had its own bathroom, a big walk-in closet, a fireplace that was almost the size of a small bathroom sat in front of the king-size canopy bed. Sheer curtains hung from the bed, I noticed they were moving with the wind. I turned my eyes to the right of the bed to see two double doors that were open. I walk over to see a balcony that overlooked the never-ending trees on the side of the house. Taking in this breathtaking view I hear Devllin walk behind me. "This is your room if you need anything I will be down the hall" I looked at him puzzled, I was almost certain I would have been forced to share a room with him. He noticed my look and said, "You've been through enough. I am not going to make you do anything that you don't want to do". He turned and walked out. A small sigh came from me like a sigh of relief as I turn back to take in the view.
