Chapter 9

          ~DAVE~

"Drive faster, else I'll take charge and you know what that means,"  I commanded my driver.

"I'm sorry sir but it has begun to rain and I can barely see what is in front."

Oh, I never knew that it was raining.

I didn't notice because of the car's tinted windows. I kept quiet and waited patiently. I checked my time over and over again, hoping that I wouldn't die while I waited.

I have a deal to finalize at 4:00 pm and now it's 3:20 pm. I can't afford to lose that deal.

After some time, the car stopped moving.

"What's wrong?" My eyebrows shot angrily.

"There's a lady lying in front of us sir."

"Then pass her by." If she's lying there, then how's that my problem?

Those stupid girls will never learn. They go out and drink unnecessarily.

"It's a one-way road sir. I can't pass anywhere."

"Then run her over. Who knows, she must be dead already" I grumbled.

My driver didn't barge and it was clear he wasn't prepared to be a murderer.

"Okay fine, go take her out of the way."

He got out that instant. I focused back on my laptop.

When I checked the time again, it was 3:35 pm. Twenty-Five minutes more.

Where's this driver? I thought. A minute has passed and he still hasn't returned.

I lowered my glass and saw him knee-deep in a puddle. It was as if his leg was stacked. He couldn't move.

I grunted and took my umbrella. If I wasn't on my way to a farmhouse for a freaking deal.

I got out and helped him out but looking at his condition, he can't pick the girl.

My eyes darted to her and I just felt like helping her. Maybe it's because of how helplessly she lay.

I went back to the car with my umbrella and removed my expensive suit. I took a towel to the driver there and handed him my umbrella.

I picked her up in my arms and walked fast to the car since the rain was falling on me too despite my driver's effort to keep the umbrella on me.

The driver rushed to open the passenger door and I placed her in.

I sat beside her and raised her to a sitting position with her head resting properly.

He was dripping with water and by the time we get to the hospital, my seat will be drenched, and not only that, me as a whole.

She started shivering in her unconscious state when the car took off.

I realized that it was the AC.

"Turn on the heat and drive to the nearest hospital," I told him.

There was nothing I could do any longer and it seems I lost my deal.

I took her out of the car into the hospital when we got there and the nurses took charge from there.

I should've left but I couldn't. I sat at the waiting area and motioned for my driver to come closer.

"Go get some warm clothes for her I'll be waiting for you."

After some time, he came back with the clothes.

I took it and gave it to one of the nurses to change her into.

The doctor walked to me after coming out of her ward.

"You must be her husband right?"

"What! No no.."

"Don't say a word." He didn't allow me to finish "You should've been more careful. Do you know that she's two weeks pregnant?"

"No, but she's not my.."

"Try to pay attention to your wife and don't be careless again." He scolded and left.

I'm sure he doesn't know who I was. If he knew, he would've known that Dave Anosova is not married. He misconstrued everything.

I got up from my seat and stared at the figure lying on the bed through the glass.

I felt the urge to look at the strange lady's face so I pushed the door open and got in.

I walked to the bedside and I was completely taken aback when my eyes met her face.

Is she human or some spirit?

How can someone be this beautiful? So angelic? She looked so innocent and fragile with her plumb pink lips parted slightly, her eyes closed.

I'm not good at words but the beauty right in front of me is so stunning and spellbinding. I've seen a lot of pretty ladies but none is a match to her. Hers was an extraordinary beauty.

The dress she wore was long but I could see how long her legs were. I moved to her injured right foot.

How did she get hurt in this condition? Her husband is so careless just like the doctor said only that I'm not the one.

I looked at her innocent and intoxicating face.

She was not only beautiful but there's something special about her that I  couldn't comprehend.

My eyes moved to her face again and looking at her extremely long hair, I yearned to touch it and have a feel of it.

I moved closer to her and took a handful of her hair into my hand. It's obvious that she hasn't had a haircut before. Her hair was so bushy and looked unkempt but I loved it. I love the fact that it was a virgin hair with no extensions.

Her face was smooth yet pale. My hands itched to touch it but I remembered that she was someone's wife even though I couldn't see the ring.

I moved from her and started walking to the door but stopped and turned to look at her for the last time.

I took retreating steps towards her, lowered myself on her, and kissed her cheeks.

"You caught my eyes and I love your hair. If it will be possible, I will ask that you don't cut it ever. I'd love to see where it will reach in case I see you again. The next time we'd meet, I'd love to see you smiling happily with eyes glowing so brightly than the moon and the stars that they are jealous. " I whispered in her ears, then my eyes linger on her, as if memorizing her. Maybe I was. I would love to see her again. I don't know why.

I finally walked away.

This time, I didn't look back again because I knew that if I do, I won't be able to leave her.
