Chapter Eighty-nine

Bridgette sighed and leaned against the railing as she thought about  how crowded her place had suddenly become. The cold air blew across her skin reminding her that she hadn’t worn a jacket or shoes. She closed her eyes, savoring the quiet as the wind whipped her hair around. She didn’t mind the chill or the numbness in her appendages. Her mind was elsewhere as she stared out at the early morning sky. 

“Bridgette….” Kane sighed, opening the door with a fresh cup of steaming coffee in his hands. “What are you doing out here in the cold?” 

Bridgette didn’t turn to look at him as he watched her worriedly. She took a deep breath of air and sighed, watching  the warm air float out on the early morning breeze. She tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear and nibbled on her bottom lip.
