1. Growing Up

{Alessia}

My name is Alessia and am I not just the queerest person ever.

"Alessia, get back here!" My nana shouted.

I'm always inside the house and I don't think that's fair, I turned sixteen yesterday and I think that I am grown, shouldn't I be allowed to roam outside the four walls of the packhouse.

"I'm not going beyond the walls nana," I shouted back and took to the winds. She could never catch even if she tried, there are few people that can keep up with me.

My father can because he's an almighty Alpha, my mother wouldn't even try, she'll just magic herself in front of me or she'll just magic me back.

Boy, do I sometimes wish I could do that.

I don't even go to school, I am homeschooled though, homeschooling is something that I never really complained about since it's actually fun and I get to do a lot of training.

My father is the Alpha of the Blue moon pack and my mother is a Dokar witch, though she had since been excommunicated from her coven, the cause, her mating with a wolf.

My nana is a wolf, she is my grandmother, my grandfather died during the twilight wars.

The twilight wars were the greatest war ever, it was a great war between all the night creatures, a peace treaty was never signed and when no one came out victorious from the war, it just stopped, but it didn't stop other people from trying to restart the war, so an agreement was reached and mating between different creatures was banned.

But it so happened that the moon goddess had other plans and many witches were mated to wolves, most of them who accepted the mating had to live a life of exile if they weren't even killed or made docile by their packs or coven.

My father had not given up on my mother because he had longed for a mate before he was given one. My mother had tried to kill herself when she found out that she was mated to a wolf, but my father had saved her and taken her away with him.

They had stayed together in the glade of the fairies until she healed and then he claimed her and soon after that she fell pregnant with me and they couldn't leave because they didn't know how to handle the child, not to mention the dangers that surrounded a hybrid child.

The fairies had been nice to them and they shelter them till I was born and then my father returned to his pack with his Luna and his child, I always wondered why my mother never had any other children, but when I asked she said it was because they had loved me too much to want another child.

But I think it was just the troubles of having and keeping me safe that prevented them from having other children.

My nana used to talk about the war, I didn't know what caused the war, but she always said it was greed for power, the creatures wanted to dominate and take over the world, their greed for power ate so deep into their heart, they began to fight one another.

She never did tell me who was at fault though, or who started the war.

Our pack is located on the outskirts of a human town. Talking about humans, they are the strangest of creatures, they are day creatures for one and I can't seem to understand them, they speak the same languages we do, but they are just so queer, much queerer than myself, and that is saying much.

"Alessia Dokar Moore." The only person that ever uses my full name is my mother.

Immediately I heard her voice, my feet screeched to a halt.

I couldn't run from her, not even if I tried.

"Listen to your nana and come back here at once." She said and my feet immediately turned back towards the packhouse. I glared at my nana menacingly.

Damn snitch.

She must have mind-linked my mom or something when I took off, I couldn't wait to turn eighteen, then they would not be able to hide things from me in their mind.

"Ma, I was just going for a run," I said and gave her a short hug.

I knew that I was no longer a little girl, but believe me, my mom loved it when I was being like this, it had helped me escape punishment a lot of times.

"You know that you have to stay around where we can always watch you right?" Her voice softened.

My hug worked again, Yay! for me.

"Yeah ma, I was just, when did you say I can leave again?" I asked, staring at her with puppy eyes.

"When you turn eighteen baby." She said and touched the band on my wrist.

It had been there since I was born and there was no way it could come off, believe me, I have tried. It was a gift from the fairies and it would come off when I turned eighteen, it was not a bit loose or too tight, it was a perfect size and it seemed to always fit me, even when I grew up from a little toddler to the young adult I am today.

"You say you're a young adult, then I'm going to need you to be more responsible." She said and cleared me off my feet with one swipe of her leg.

"Mom." I helped as my butt hit the ground. "No fair." I huffed out.

"You always have to be ready Lisa, there are people in this world that will try to hurt you, you have to make sure to be stronger and faster than them all." She said and picked me up from the floor.

"Yes, ma," I said and cleaned the dust from my derriere.

My mother is a very beautiful woman, I can totally see where I got my good looks anytime I look at her, she has brown skin and green curly hair, she also has brown eyes, but they turn fiery whenever she's in power mode, I mean when she's using her powers.

My father has lighter skin than my mother, he has blue eyes and black hair that he keeps tied to the back of his head in a ponytail. He is also a very handsome man and between the two of them, they gave birth to one of the most beautiful girls in the world.

When strangers from different packs visit, I am passed off as a fairy and they buy it, the fairies are the only creatures that didn't have any part in the war, they are loyal friends of good and truth.

"Allie heads up." My father yelled as we neared the packhouse and he threw a sword at me.

Fortunately, I raised my head in time and I caught the sword.

"Dad," I yelled and raced towards him.

He was like a god to me.

With the sword in my hand, I jumped into his arms and he caught me smiling.

"You're home," I said and hugged him.

He had been gone for almost a week on business.

"Yes dearest, I'm home." He said and set me down.

"Hi." My mom blushed as she spoke when she caught up to us.

I couldn't believe how she could still bush like a shy school girl after being mated for close to twenty years.

"Hi." He replied and closed the distance between them. "I missed you." He said and spun my mother around.

"I missed you too." She said giggling like a schoolgirl.

I loved seeing them like this, I wanted this kind of love and I could only hope that my dream would come true when I turn eighteen. I hoped that I would find my mate immediately, I didn't want to be like some wolves that were stuck for years without finding their mates.

"I made you all some snacks." Nana came out with a tray of cookies.

"Yay snacks." I clapped my hand and retrieved the tray.

Since I was the youngest wolf present, it was my duty to serve everyone present.

After my parents took a piece, I dropped the tray on a desk and took a piece. It was so tasty.

That's the thing about nana's cookies, they're cookies but with beef, It may look like a weird food combination, but I assure you that it's not, it's the right amount of crunchy and savory.

We wolves love our meat, so we welcome anything with meat in it.

"That good hun?" My mother smiled at me.

"Yeah so good," I said with my mouth full and I almost bit my tongue.

"Young lady." Nana reprimanded in a strict voice.

"You know nana makes the best snacks," I said after I swallowed and I smiled at nana.

She couldn't stay mad at me for too long, she loved when I complimented her.

"Take a walk with me." My father said after we finished the snacks.

My mother and nana cleared the tray and they went into the house.

"What is going on?" I asked my father, he looked bothered somehow.

He did not reply and I did not bother him again, we kept walking until we got to the forest glade, there was a log on the floor and he sat on it, I propped down and sat beside him quietly.

"There's danger coming Allie." He said, breaking the silence.

My father was not one to beat around the bush and he was the only one who didn't treat me like a child anymore, he didn't hide anything from me, no matter how gruesome or morbid it was.

He taught me to be fearless.

"What type of danger?" I asked, trying to sound brave.

"The kind of danger that means you have to hide." He said and I understood immediately.

"Can't I fight?" I asked but he shook his head.

"You will fight when the time comes, but for now you have to hide my child." He said and he touched my hair softly.

Did I fail to describe myself? forgive me.

I have dark hair like my dad's and I have the same skin tone as his, I'm quite tall at about five foot five, I have plump pink lips, lovely round eyes that are hazel colored. I don't think anyone exactly can tell the true color of my eyes cause it changes constantly, sometimes.

Right now my eye is a pale green color, but two years ago it was a pale blue color, all my eye colors are always blue.

"Where will I go," I said my voice was shaking, I did not want to leave my family.

"To the fairies glade, they'll keep you safe until I send for you." He said.

"When do I leave," I asked tears brimming in my eyes.

"Tomorrow." He said and just like that, the tears poured out of my eyes.

"Tomorrow, Dad, that's too—" I tried to protest.

"You'll be fine, child, it's for the best, I have to make sure that you are safe." He said and he got up from the log.

He took off his shirt and I gasped when I saw his back, his flesh had been torn and there were scratch marks all over his back.

"These will heal, I just need to shift." He said and then he turned to me. " You can't shift yet, your wounds won't heal" he added and walked deeper into the forest to shift.

I heard a loud growl and feet stomping on the ground when he shifted.

My heart was heavy, I could not believe that I was going away from my family, from SamSam

I stood up and started running wildly, I had to see my best friend.

Sam was a hybrid like me, his parents had been killed, but Dad had managed to rescue him, we were both around the same age and we lived together in the same pack house.

Cole.

"Cole, where is Cole" I yelled panting from the long run when I got to the pack house.

"He's packing, he's also in danger, so he's going with you." My mother answered. "Child, your eyes are red." She said and I turned to look at my reflection on the glass doors.

She was right, my eyes had turned red.
