Future Schools

It was morning and as the sunrays entered Rosa's room the alarm rang. She woke up, yawned and stretched in her bed. 

The robotic voice said "Good morning Rosa, right now it's 7:00 am and you need to be in your school exactly at 8:00 am. So you quickly need to brush, take a bath, have breakfast and get ready. Have a nice day." 

Rosa jumped off her bed and went to take a shower. Actually she doesn't even need to do anything. The atomatic shower and bath tub will take care of everything from scrubbing, cleaning, moisturizing and dressing her up. She just needs to select her clothes. After getting ready she was transported to the dining room. Mom and dad were already at the table having breakfast. Mom was having a cup of black coffee and some toast and dad was having eggs and bacon. Rosa seated herself at the table and said good morning to her mom and dad. 

Mom said "Did you sleep well sweetheart?" 

Rosa nodded and said "Oh yeah even though I am very excited for the trip but still I was out like a log"

Zipper the AI robot cook of their house was preparing Rosa's breakfast. He served her toast and eggs just how she likes them. He is a great chef and keeps himself updated on new recipes and even experiments with dishes and does a fabulous job. 

Zipper said "Mrs Hudson I need to be upgraded today as a new upgrade is available. It's going to take an hour so I suggest starting it right now so I will be able to prepare dinner on time." 

Rosa's mom commanded for the upgrade to begin. Rosa really loved Zipper as he was a very friendly robot. Maybe because he was programmed to have the dominant trait as 'friendly' as he was a household helper AI robot and mainly did household chores. He needed to be nice to kids and pets and all family members in general. He made healthy but delicious recipes and always tried to include those foods which she loved. They had a bonding. It might have sounded weird in 2019 but in the 3019 it is perfectly normal. Now it was time for Rosa to head to school. She said bye to her mom and dad and got into her aircar. 

The aircar's security system flashed a screen and a computerized voice said "Pls bring your face close to the screen for scanning. Face detection is running." After the face detection the engine started. In 3019 the engine starts only after the face of the owner of the car is detected. Rosa selected her destination to Silverspring High School and switched to autopilot mode. 

The aircar took off but there was a lot of traffic in the air. Rosa comfortably laid back and decided to scroll through her socials a bit till she reaches school. After a few minutes she reached her school and saw Sofia coming towards her while waving her hands. She had wavy sandy blonde hair which reached till her upper back and beautiful greenish hazel eyes. There was still some time to get to their class so they went towards their lockers which used finger prints to open and started taking out the equipments they will need for their first class. 

Schools in 3019 generally don't use traditional paper books but rather students are givens storage chips that store books and notes and a scanner device which when inserted with the desired chip scans the desired book and presents it to the student in a mini screen in class while the teacher teaches them. Each chip can contain upto 30 books. The capacity is made low on purpose because a student won't need more than that and they are given upto 6 chips for books and additional 4 chips for notes specifically which has a much higher storage capacity as each student has a different style to take down notes. The libraries although have traditional paper books which students can check out as they desire. 

Rosa and Sofia had their first period together which was English Literature.

Sofia said "I have already decided which accessories and outfits am packing because I am so excited for our trip. We are going to have a blast!" by clasping her hands together and smiling brightly.

Rosa said "That reminds me that I need your help to select my outfits. I am so confused between some of them"

Rosa was beaming but suddenly her smile faded and her lips formed a tight line. Sofia immediately understood what was wrong. She turned and saw Kaylee coming together with her group of friends towards Alex Silvius and Tyler Cosmos. Alex had jet black hair always gelled to perfection, deep blue eyes with a heavy stubble looking way mature than his age. He also had a few tattoos on his arms with a muscular body. He looked like he hit the gym everyday whereas Tyler had dirty blonde hair which remained a bit messy with brown eyes, athletic well built body and a light scruffy beard. Kaylee's natural hair colour was ginger but she bleached it to platinum blonde. 

Sofia joked "How many times does she even bleach her hair. It should be completely damaged, dry and frizzy by now"

Rosa said nonchalantly "It appears shiny so I guess she takes care of it who knows."

They both headed towards their class. Kaylee obviously didn't hear them but she saw them and royally ignored them. She and Alex were rumored to be dating. Carol on the other hand was Katherine's friend. Carol had a huge crush on Tyler but Tyler just saw her as a friend. Carol was mostly sweet but boy did she love attention. Alex gazed up and his eyes met straight with Rosa's but then he went back to talking to Kaylee. Tyler waved at them. Rosa waved back to Tyler as she really liked him as a person and found him mostly sweet. 

Sofia gave him a big fake smile and both of them passed the group and went in the direction of their class. Sofia did not really trust people easily and generally would be suspicious if somebody was 'too kind' in her books. 

Tyler said chuckling "I think Sofia just gave me a big fake smile."

Alex said "I didn't know you know them."

Tyler said "I mean they are in many of our classes. So it's natural I would know them. They are sort of acquaintances." 

Alex said shrugging his shoulders "Yeah I know them too but you know Rosa and Kaylee have history."

Tyler admitted and said "I won't like to be involved in their personal problems and also there is always two sides of a coin."

Alex did not say anything after that and just fixed his steely gaze towards the disappearing silhouette of Rosa and Sofia.

They also had English as their first period so they too proceeded towards class. Two seats were empty just behind Rosa and Sofia and Alex and Tyler seated themselves there. Rosa was extremely displeased as she did not like any of the popular kids except Tyler and she also never really got any positive vibes from Alex . Sofia was not bothered as she did not care for the popular kids but she could practically sense Rosa's displeasure which affected her too. 

Rosa in no ways was defenceless or timid. She can be very sassy when the time comes and Sofia becomes a tigress if anyone disrespects her or tries to take advantage of her in any situation but Sofia can get intimidated too sometimes and does not exactly function the best under pressure. Tyler being the kind and sweet person he is could immediately sense the girls tensing up so he said nothing in order to avoid any further discomfort for the girls. 

Rosa and Kaylee were once best friends but with time they drifted apart due to misunderstandings they both never talk about. The teacher's AI robot assistant took the attendance by scanning the faces of all the students. Kaylee was seated in class too. Rosa sometimes wondered why did Kaylee stopped being friends with her, why did she do and say those stuff to her. Now there existed nothing but a void between them. There was no bitterness but an emptiness that settled in both of their hearts. Kaylee never stated what Rosa had done that suddenly made her hate Rosa. Everybody just moved on but yet somewhere these questions remained unanswered in all of their hearts. As the class began Rosa was completely absorbed in what the teacher was saying, taking notes and answering the questions.
