17. The Circle of Containment
During the battle with the Schatten Anders was so confident that they had the upper hand but he should have known better.
Guns are just a distraction when fighting them, because they heal so fast. They also got in the way and he took too much time messing with the gun, loading and shooting to pay enough attention to his whereabouts.
That's how he ended up in this damn circle of containment, by not paying attention to his surroundings.

He appeared in Matthais' chambers and gathered his thoughts on how he would investigate the treason brewing within the castle walls. He never trusted James but he always kept the peace because it was Matthais' brother and he didn't want to cause trouble in the family, but thinking about their current situation, that was probably the wrong decision.
