CHAPTER XXVIII

Cassandra cuddles up into John’s arms, his body has no warmth since he is an undead but it matters not.

She is warm enough for both of them.

She gets out of the bed and finds a shirt in John’s closet. She looks at her man sleeping and goes to give him a peck. His cheek is as hard as a brick.

She goes to the kitchen to fix herself a glass of water.

She drinks the water halfway and stops, she notices something wrong.

Something feels off about John’s apartment tonight, so she sniffs into the air as she tries to get the scent of any strange presence.

She drops the glass on the counter and bends down to hide behind the kitchen table.

Something strange is here, but she has to be sure.

She takes a deep breath and exhales; she concentrates so her sharp ears can pick up on any footstep around the house.

There is one. No, several footsteps around the house and she knows for a fact that none of John’s neighbors would be coming to the house by this time of the night.
