Chapter Six: When it rains, it pours.

Two months have passed and I can say that college is the best. Though I am still unable to grasp the idea of living alone. But I’m pretty sure that I can slay this independent life. I’m doing well with my class and also with my friends.

Since Lunan and I are classmates in every subject, we’re always together. I’m used to him being talkative. I am even grateful for it as there’s no dead air when we’re together. No boring moments. He’s responsible for the topic, I contribute the laughter.

I even got to know Anvien more, I knew almost all the things about her. I laughed at the spoiled brat part. I can never imagine her like that. Though, sometimes you can see it when she’s playing around with Lunan and when she gets little to no sleep.

My friends are the goofiest yet the nicest.

I’m here at the grocery store. This is the first thing I like to do when I get my allowance, my favorite grown-up thing. It’s nice to be in charge of what you eat every day.

When I finished grocery shopping, I was bothered by how heavy the rain pours. As much as I like rainy weather, I hate it when I’m outside.

I stood here in the waiting shed, avoiding getting wet from the rain.

I have no choice but to ride a taxi. But unfortunately, that would be hard since every taxi that passed by me is occupied.

I scratched my head. This is killing me. I wonder if there is a typhoon. I don’t really watch the news, that's why I'm not updated. Maybe I should start watching them. Maybe that’s a great idea.

A car stopped in front of me. I got irritated. Why do cars stop in front of me?

My irritable mood shifted into something else when the car’s window rolled down.

I felt another deja vu again. Like I've seen this film before.

“Is that you, Bliss?” I was shocked. Ace is here. This is far from where he usually is.

“Ace?” He rushed outside his car and brought out his umbrella.

“I’ll be dropping you off, the rain is getting too hard.” He said while fighting off the strong wind with his umbrella. I nodded. I don’t care about being shy, I have to go home.

He opened the passenger seat door which is on the other side where the rain can soak us. He kept me from getting wet using his umbrella and I hurriedly got in his car. It was not the car I got in before.

I wonder how many cars he has. I bet there are so many. He's a CEO of a car company. That's not impossible.

He got in and smiled at me. I was worried by how soaked he was. I offered my handkerchief. Even though it's not enough to make him dry.

“Thank you,” he said while drying his face with it. The umbrella was too small to fit the both of us, that’s why he spared himself for me to not get wet.  He was making sure I won't get wet with the rain. I felt my cheeks getting warm because of what he did.

“Thank you, Ace.” I said while smiling. Despite the feeling that I'm being a nuisance to him, I am grateful that he’s dropping me off again. I mean, what kind of coincidence is this?

He smiled at me and finally drove the car. I told him the directions to my apartment.

“Why are you in this place?” I asked him while I’m staring at his car’s windshield. Fascinated by the rain despite its inconvenience.

“I had a business meeting around.” His hair was wet and I was a little worried that he might get sick. I hope his immune system is not weak.

“How about you? What are you doing here?” his eyes are on the road but still taking a glance at me.

“This is where I study now.” I explained.

“I have a condo near here.. but I don’t go home there every time.” he said out of nowhere. I just nodded my head.

“Your company is far from here, so it must be the reason.” He agreed. I noticed that he’s not wearing his usual sneakers and he’s wearing formal shoes that suit his professional outfit.

“That’s why I don't see you that often now. What does living independently taste like? Freedom, right?” He joked. I laughed at it. It does taste like freedom.

“Well, I’ve missed you.” He added,

What he just said echoed in my brain.

I’ve missed you.

I’ve missed you.

I’ve missed you.

I took a deep breath and processed what he said. Did he really miss me? Did he really mean that? Is he joking?

“I’ve missed you, too.” I said while sounding like it was a joke though I really meant it. I’ve missed him.

I looked at him and he just smiled.

I think he noticed how the silence was eating us so he decided to turn on some music. I wanted to laugh when the song was from Mariah Carey.

I’m just in shock, I can’t believe he likes that kind of music.

My laugh burst out when he started singing. The thought of him liking this kind of music is funny, but when he's actually singing it? Comical!

He’s laughing with me as well. I feel like my stomach is about to burst from laughing too hard.

The car was filled with laughter while the rain was still pouring outside.

When we arrived at my apartment, he helped me carry my groceries and ran to get inside. The rain was getting heavier and heavier.

I thanked him for everything he has done. From insisting to drop me off to carrying my groceries. It was a very great help.

“Anything for you.” he said while looking around my apartment.

I gave him a towel so that he can dry himself from being soaked by the rain. I also offered him coffee but he declined.

“Your place is nice.” He complimented me. I just smiled despite my place being a mess right now. I just hope he didn’t notice.

“Anyway, I have to go. You take care here.” I reached for the towel and nodded. I waved goodbye to him. I watched him get inside the car. The rain is not yet stopping.

But it’s been like 10 minutes and his car is not even starting. I started to get worried. Is there something wrong? What seems to be the problem?

He got out of the car and ran into me. He scratched his head.

“I think my car’s battery ran out, I don’t have an extra one.” Okay, that’s why his car didn't start. I smiled awkwardly.

“How can you go home?” I asked, wondering if he had plans.

"I can’t book a taxi since it’s rush hour, plus the rain is still angry. So, can I stay here for a while?” Now I’m the one scratching my head. I don’t know what to say. I don’t know what to do either.

“Okay.” I said. It looks like I have no choice.

“Don’t worry I’ll wait for the rain to stop then I’ll leave. I just don’t have a choice.” He said helplessly. It’s really alright with me but it’s just, I don’t have enough space. My couch is not big enough for him to lay down. And my bed is just enough for me.

“I can sleep on the floor.” He insisted, it seems to me that he’s reading my mind. I laughed nervously.

“Let me sleep on the floor, instead. I can’t let you stay there, you’re my Dad’s boss.” I insisted. He’s my guest, I should be hospitable.

“I don’t mind sleeping there, staying here is already enough, this is your place, you should be the one sleeping in your bed. That’s why it’s called YOUR bed” He insisted more. I laughed at how persuasive he is.

Okay, I raised my white flag. If that is what he wants.

He sat on my couch.

“I’m hungry.” He blurted out.

“I don’t have food yet, but I can cook for you.” I said.

“No, I want to cook. I can cook, as far as you're concerned.” He said boastfully, I smirked. I almost forgot that he wants to be a chef as well.

“Cook for me then.” I said like I’m challenging him. He removed his suit and tie and he’s just wearing his button-up polo.

“Okay,  be prepared, you will not remember your name later on.” He said jokingly. I burst out laughing. His being so confident is hilarious to me.

He cooked a Creamy Chicken Soup or what we call Sopas, he said it’s easy to cook and perfect for this kind of weather. I couldn’t agree more. I watched him silently while he's cooking.

“How was it?” He asked as I blow my spoon, the soup is still hot. My eyes widened as soon as the food went into my mouth.

I get it now. I know why he’s overly confident a while ago.

He’s really a good cook. Well, I can’t really tell based on his one dish only, but this dish is so good. It’s very savory. I love it.

“This is so good.” I said as I sipped the soup.

“I told you so.” He smirked.

After we ate, I cleaned up and washed the dishes. It feels nice to have your crush cook for you.

Umm. I mean.

N..nevermind!

He lay down on the mattress that I prepared for him earlier. I’m still uncomfortable that he’s going to sleep there, I mean how come I made a CEO sleep on my floor?

Ï looked at him, he looked like he’s really uncomfortable yet still trying to look like everything is alright.

“Are you sure this is alright with you?” I asked him once again.

“Of course. Don’t mind me.” he said while trying to relax. I shrugged my shoulders. If this is what he likes then.

“Good night.” I said as I turned off the lights.

I woke up to get ready for my class, but I already received a text from Anvien that classes are suspended because of the stormy weather.

I sighed in relief. Finally, a rest day, I guess.

I tried to get up but it feels like my body is heavy and I'm getting dizzy just by staring at my ceiling.

I don’t feel well.

I closed my eyes again. I felt a hand on my forehead.

“Are you okay?” His voice seems so concerned. His eyebrows frowned. I nodded my head despite not really feeling okay.

“You might have a fever.” He said, his hands went to my face now. I felt like my heart was going to pop any second from now. I caught my breath. I avoid my face from his hands.

“You need to rest more.” He said. I nodded then closed my eyes.

I woke up again from the unfamiliar alarm clock. Ace hurriedly made it stop like he’s really careful not to wake me up. But it was too late. Ï squinted my eyes, I don’t have my glasses with me so he’s a little blurry.

He scratched his head. He’s cute when he does that. It’s like he’s innocent.

“Eat this, this is the leftover chicken soup from last night. Then take your medicine.” He said. I reached for the soup. Is he taking care of me?

“Do you really get sick easily?” He said. I nodded while eating the soup. My immune system is really weak, that's why I’m not even shocked that I have a fever now. I just feel wary that he’s here to witness that.

“I didn’t notice that you have nice eyes.” I almost got choked with it. My eyes may look nice, but they don’t work. My eyes are close to being blind.

He laughed when he noticed that I was uncomfortable with his compliment.

I don’t think anyone noticed my eyes before. Maybe because I’m not wearing my glasses right now.

His phone rang and he went outside to answer it.

When I finished my food. I got up despite feeling nauseous. I have to make him some coffee. I have to return all the favors that he did to me.

When he returned, his coffee was already made. I smiled at him.

“Thank you, but you have to rest.” He said worriedly.

“I feel like I’m really a nuisance with all that you’re doing right now, so I have to repay you with that.” I said.

“You don’t have to repay me. You’re like my little sister after all.” I felt a little bit more nauseous because of what he said.

After a while, a car beeped and he said it was his driver. They fixed his car which only took a while. He thanked me for making him stay for a bit in my apartment and I should take a full rest since my fever is not yet subsiding.

I can’t help but smile at the thought of him being concerned about me. He’s caring and sweet.

I felt another weird feeling in my chest.
