C6: Archilles (1)

His green eyes glinted. Showing signs of interest to the person who he finds to be concealing his identity.

There was something in this person’s brown eyes that made him unable to look away.

As if there’s something in them that he needs to unearth,

–that he wants to unearth.

Archilles.

There was only one person reflecting on his calculating brown eyes.

“I surprised you earlier, didn’t I? Haha. Sorry about that, I hope we can both forget what happened.”

He watched as the person in front of him shyly scratched his exposed neck, wearing nothing but another pair of silky pajamas with mickey mouse printed all around them. He shifted his gaze away, the small smile hanging on his lips almost dropped at the sight of the apartment.

“I hope I didn't offend sir…?”

"Archilles. You can just call me Archilles." the man nodded gently, moving his gaze away from the chaotic sight and reaching out his hands. The golden ring wrapped around his middle finger glinted under the illuminescent. "You don’t have to worry about offending me since it is partially my fault."

“Then, you can just call me Kit.” said Avyanna, noticing the intensity of his stare as they shook hands. She gestured to the couch immediately after, feeling slightly overwhelmed. “Please, do sit.”

As Raven, coming into contact twice with this man who has a questionable relationship with the police has a high chance of endangering her disguise. Letting a complete stranger into her apartment is already dangerous, and adding the fact about the contract he’s trying to propose makes it overall iffy. What kind of contract is he even trying to present? What’s the give? As an assassin, her instinct is already telling her to be wary and to stay away.

But avoiding him could create suspicion, which will then give them all the more reason to investigate her background—well only if they haven’t yet scratched the surface. That could be much more troublesome, especially since she's using a different identity. Although her guild made it so that none can find dirt anywhere in her background, she would still like to keep her current identity as Kit as lowkey as possible.

Avyanna, in contrast to Raven’s guarded personality, is a very risky person. Albeit lazy. She will use things that she sees fit and can benefit her in any way, no matter how perilous it can be. Although it has its own consequences, assessing whether he’s worth the risk will entirely be based on his performance today.

"You mentioned something about a contract. Would you mind explaining in detail what it's all about?" Avyanna asked. Her eyes were solely fixed at his as he settled down on her couch.

Archilles leaned forward, clasping his hands over his knee.

”Straight to the point, I see. As you may have already guessed, I am quite involved with the police, though my identity is not that important, I am capable of gathering information about anything that they instruct me to. May it be a deeply hidden criminal record of someone outside our country, the smallest detail about him on the internet, and even the blackest dirt that person has to hide—it is something that I long since find easy to do. Which the police find very beneficial hence why I suddenly became part of their operations despite not having a position to any of their official units. Let’s just say that my situation is a bit special. Though, like I said, I’m not that important, just a person letting others move him as a pawn.”

Avyanna’s eyes squinted. She has no idea why he’s telling her this. “…then why are you letting them be when you’re fully aware that you’re being used?”

“It’s fun to see them acting all high and mighty when they have no idea how I’m using them too as I please. A bunch of idiots, you know?”

Archilles rested his chin on his palm, a lazy grin forming on his lips.

“But telling the tale how stupid their system is, disappointingly, not the reason why I’m here today. And I apologize in advance as I dug up information about you, however,. rest assured that nobody ordered me to. Let’s just say that you dangerously caught my attention and I did it to quench my curiosity about you. Now, I will be reciting info that I found about you, but, please, do not hesitate to correct me if I’m wrong.

"Since you were 13, you realize you have a passion for cross dressing and a talent for cosplay, especially as a female character. That's something that your family couldn't accept and even find disgusting as they believed that you're homosexual, which is against to their religious belief. So they kicked you out of the family after you turned 15. Despite this, you never cower nor do you ever lower your head, and instead create a path for you to take as a cosplayer. Who's now very famous by the alias, Moonlight. I'm quite a fan of his, you see. "

Avyanna's eyes shook.

The information that he just recited is the identity she and the XYS bought from a real person. It was a mask bought from an expensive price so that no one would be able to find her true identity as Avyanna Collins or Raven from the XYS, since both names have tight shackles which restrict her freedom to move around freely. One as an adopted daughter from a wealthy clan, and the other as a killer, both are equally bothersome to use as her day-to-day life identity.

"As a fan, I know that for the past few years, Moonlight started laying low. At the same time, ironically after he became inactive, his popularity started to rise and it even reached a few other countries. Making him famous nationwide. From the very start of his career, he never revealed who he is nor did he drop any hints or clues. Everything was perfectly concealed. However that doesn't mean no one on this earth can't find him. If it's still not obvious by my presence, I would like to formally introduce myself. It's been an absolute pleasure to finally meet my icon.

“Am I right? Kit Sunuvabeech, a.k.a Moonlight.”

She didn't say a word, and Archilles didn't really expect her to.

"Despite the information I’ve found, I’m still not satisfied. Especially since if I want you to be part of my team, this thing wouldn’t make you bat an eye. Right? So, I have to look for more dirt that you can say no to. Would you please, kindly open this folder for me?”

At the same time, Archilles pulled out a brown folder out of nowhere and placed it at the top of the circled table. Avyanna narrowed her eyes at him, before doing what he told her to.

The brown envelope contained pictures of none other than the real Kit Sunuvabeetch.

"This picture was taken only recently. To be exact, on May 26 this year—the exact date the day before yesterday. I have my men stationed near this building to keep an eye of yours and the apartment next to you. Just to be extremely cautious. So I am aware how you haven't been out of your room for four whole days.

"Then, can I ask Sir Kit to explain this picture to me? No, I think I already know the answer for that. Though I’m more baffled as to what your reason for using the identity of the true Moonlight?”

Avyanna raised her eyes, confronting once again with his hazel ones.

The thrilling sensation of clashing with this man had undoubtedly lit the fire of competitiveness in her once again, just like how she first met him.

He’s dangerous.

But she’s equally the same.
