Chapter 0003

Mama's finger poked at my side from behind. When I turned around she fake smiled and whispered a 'speak'. I rolled my eyes and for the first time looked at the visitors. There was a couple, an alpha and a beta. Next to them, a little girl was sipping at the welcome drink very loudly. At the very end of the sofa, there was a young guy.

I tore my eyes away quickly without giving a single glance to him. I knew it was just right that he was supposed to be my mate in the future. Only if the arranged marriage happens. Note the word 'if', that was not gonna happen. I knew if I take a glance at the alpha my mind would ask me to agree to this marriage. So I didn't look at him. Instead, I looked at everyone in displease.

"Hello, I am Win," I mumbled and excused myself from the living room. Mama tried to pull me back but I slapped her hand off and stormed out. It was time I rejected the deal. If I acted sweet and friendly it would've looked like I was okay with it.

I didn't hear anyone talking downstairs for a good minute. Then I heard mama calling them to have dinner in the dining room. That was my mere unluck. So I won't be able to have dinner till they leave, great. I thought.

I sighed and removed my wristwatch and all the other accessories. Discarding clothes one by one to the floor I shuddered when the cold wind caressed my skin. It was a chilly night and my room looked like a haunted place. But downstairs people were laughing and planning my future along with the alpha's future. Hoping that they might get my hint I went to the shower cubicle and turned the shower on.

I shrieked when the cold water hit my bare skin. I forgot to switch on the heater. After some fuss and struggles, I managed to shower under mildly warm water. I rubbed at my skin hard thinking maybe all the pains and worries would wash away.

I dried myself and dressed up. Wearing the fluffy slippers I went to my bed. I jumped to it and cocooned myself in the blanket. I badly wanted to know what was going on downstairs. But I didn't want to appear among the crowd either. I wanted to show my full uninterest in marriage. But my curiosity was killing me just like it killed the cat once upon a time.

I grabbed my phone and dialed Joss's number. The idiot's ringing tone blared in my ears.

"Heyyyyy." he answered with a dragged 'hey'.

"Mama and papa arranged a marriage for me!" I rumbled without beating around the bush.

"What? Are you watching a drama or something?"

"Yeah, the name is hidden omega. Bullshit."

"Chillax. Now tell me what happened?"

"Arranged marriage! That's it. There's an alpha downstairs. I can't believe they did all these things without even telling me first. For god sake how can I agree to it when I am not a beta? Moreover, his pheromones were really weird."

"Weird? His pheromones might've affected you, bro. That's why you felt weird."

"I don't know. I didn't even look at him. This is all too sudden! I even groaned as an old man waited, I don't want to give a good first impression. But it was embarrassing!"

"It's nature. You are feeling what another normal omega feels when they meet an alpha. You want to impress them."

"But I never felt anything when I was with you," I muttered.

"Because we've always been together!"

"Oh yeah-"

knock knock

Someone suddenly knocked at the door. My throat felt dry upon hearing the knock on the wooden door. I was not sure if the person outside heard my conversation with my friend. I dropped the phone and ran to the door. I opened it ajar looking down at my feet. I was doomed. I was caught. I felt like a deer caught in headlights. I felt small. But-

"Hey." an unfamiliar voice called. I looked up to see a tall, new face. The alpha whom I was paired up with. He stood there like a model. He was breathing rather heavily with his lips partly separated. A thin line of sweat slowly dripped down from the side of his face. I squinted my eyes and looked. He had a few scars around his face, one near the eyebrow and one right next to his lips. Other scars were too small to notice.

His hair has fallen to his forehead with a smooth curve and it was slightly wavering due to the chilly wind. He was wearing a dark t-shirt, with a black leather jacket over it. The black pants hung loose but they matched well with his black boots. A Rolex watch too hung loose on his right hand. There were several other rubber bands and things around his wrists like a mess.

"What do you want?" I asked tearing my eyes away from him.

"Nice to meet you too. I am Bright," he said with a genuine smile. But I was too moody to notice it.

"You didn't answer my question... Bright."

"Yeah. I am here to talk with you about... this situation?" he said, more like asking a question.

"I am busy."

"With what?"

"I am busy trying to shoo away a certain leech," I said with a smirk. At least he will have some ego and leave.

"I'll pretend I didn't hear that." Bright mumbled going past me, to my room! It was more than enough. Was he mocking me!?

"Hey, get out!"

"You love to paint, I see. What else do you like?" Bright asked ignoring me. He had a teasing smile on his face. That's when I first realized this person won't be easy to reject. Not that I didn't want to reject but something was wrong with him. The insults didn't work on him.

"Get. Out."

"I love music. But I don't really get any decent time to play. Have you heard it? Music and painting blend so well~"

My mouth hung open. He never heard what I said. The words 'get out' passed his ears and he was flirting with me in seconds. He was really smooth for a beginner. But he didn't know I was an omega. If he knew he won't be here. He would've looked at me with disgust and left.

"Last warning Bright. Get out. As much as you enjoy teasing me, I dislike it. I dislike this whole situation. I don't want an arranged marriage with you. We both should disagree with this."

Silence. He didn't say anything for a second. He clicked his tongue rolling his eyes. I knew it, he was tired. He will agree with me and end this marriage. But-

"Why should I do that?"

"Because we don't match, we don't like each other. It won't happen."

"We just met now. You can't say anything. We didn't even spend one hour with each other."

"We don't need to. Just get out. This marriage is not happening. I... I-I dislike... alphas!"

"Your best friend is an alpha."

How did he even know? Did Mama and Papa tell him about this?! Ugh, if thoughts could kill!

"He's the only alpha I like."

"Add me to the list."

"There's no list."

"Make a list."

" "

" "

"Just... give me a break okay? There's suddenly a guy as my future mate then that guy suddenly barged into my room. It's all new to me. First, leave." I said in one breath whispering the last part. He stared at me for a good minute before nodding.

"I'll wait for you," he whispered too and left the room. I felt like a pathetic protagonist in a movie. But I didn't want my story to be a silly love story, to begin with. This should be a depressing story where an omega will live his whole life pretending to be a beta. Or maybe a thriller movie where I lose hope and become a murderer. But that sounds so cliché and dramatic. I would like it if I wasn't the protagonist. Bright could be the protagonist. I will be just another person whom his parents arranged a marriage with. I will leave the movie after rejecting him. He will learn his lesson.

I closed the door behind me and buried myself in the blankets again. Even the blanket cocoon didn't help me that day. I wanted to rewind and make sure mama and papa don't arrange the marriage in the future. Maybe find a fake lover meanwhile and pretend. But pretention was too hard. Adding more drama won't do any good.

"Dude, he was a good flirt." I suddenly hear a familiar voice. It was Joss. I looked around in alarm but saw no one. I looked under the blanket to find my phone still with an ongoing call with Joss.

"What the fvck! Did you listen to the whole conversation!?" I scolded the shameless person behind the phone.

"Yeah. I even ate some snacks listening to it."

"Ugh, you have no shame."

"Same goes to your future mate."

"Oh shut it! I rejected him already."

"He didn't even hear it."

"Are you his friend or my friend?"

"His."

"Great."

That's how our first meeting went. I rejected him the moment I saw him and vowed myself to reject him forever. Being mateless sounded more realistic than getting a mate who won't even know my second gender.

I peacefully drifted off to sleep that night. But sometimes life plays with you. The next day, on a peaceful Saturday mama, woke me up smack at 7 am.

"Win, Bright is here for a date."

Holy shit! Doesn't this guy have any shame!?
