Chapter 29: Lauryn

When we go inside, Darren's mom gives me a hug and whispers in my ear, "He loves you, don't hurt him dear."  Letting me go, she gives me a warning look and then smiles at Darren lovingly.  

"Sweetie, have a seat next to your girlfriend and tell me all about how you two met."  Her eyes are fixed on me and I can tell she is watching out for him.  Something in his past, must have made her this way.

Darren sits down right next to me and holds my hand.  Lacing my fingers with his, he doesn't let go as he tells her.  "One night I was coming home from a friend's house and I hit a deer.  Realizing that the battery in my phone died, I walked up to the nearest house.  It just happened to be Lauryn's."  He stops and smiles at me, squeezing my hand.

"She was very kind to open for me and let me use her phone, considering it was about 2 in the morning.  I never asked for her name or number, thinking we would never see
