Chapter 36: Darren

After cleaning up, the first thing on my mind is food.  Lauryn follows me into the kitchen and chops up the vegetables, while I cut up the beef and slice it into shavings.  Deciding to make Mongolian Beef for dinner, I boil rice and fry up the meat in a wok.  When Lauryn finishes her job, I take the vegetables and throw them in with the rest of it.  

Watching the steam roll off of the stove, I crack the window open and turn around to continue cooking the food.  After frying up all the peppers and green onions, I pour in the soy sauce and brown sugar.  Mixing it all together, I taste a piece and satisfied, let Lauryn sample it.  Sitting on a stool, her eyes pop open when she tastes it. 

"Careful, It's still too hot."  I tell her, when she tries to get another sample.  "I blew that one off for a few minutes, before giving it to you.  I don't want you to burn yourself."  She looks at me with adoring eye
