Chapter 40: Darren

Taking her back to the penthouse, we stop briefly at the store to grab some wine, a package of strawberries and a can of whip cream.  Arriving at home, I scoop her up in my arms and carry her up to the rooftop.  The look in her eyes is that of a child, when she sees the lights of the city surrounding us.  

In the corner, I had a small table placed with chairs.  On the table is a lit candle and a wrapped gift for her.  When she realizes that it is for her, her eyes double in size and she practically jumps out of my arms.  

Considering that I have already given her a ring, she doesn't have a clue what is in it.  

"For me?"  She asks, and takes it.

"Yes, baby.  It's for you.  Something you won't expect."  I wait for her to open it.
