"What the heck?!" Diane finally verbalized, storming into the room. "What the heck happened here? Was she robbed?!"

Nicholas gave her a weird look. "No, I don't think so, Diane. I think she just stood up to leave."

"Well, where the hell is she?!"

Nicholas frowned. "How should I know?"

Diane whirled around to face him. "You should know!" She yelled. "I left my two sisters under your care. And now one of them has disappeared without a trace! What the hell, Nicholas?! I thought you were responsible."

"What?" Nicholas stared at her, am incredulous look on his face. "Need I remind you, Diane," he said, in an extremely controlled voice, "that Malvika is an adult who can be responsible for herself."

"Oh, don't you dare talk to me in that tone," Diane growled.

"Besides, it obvious that she carefully packed her things and left. How is that my fault?" he asked.
