Chapter 2: Professor Luan

ACADIA'S POV

Before I could say anything else, I had already started my cleaning. I mopped the office floor after I swept it and wiped his table. Go to the bathroom to see if it is clean because it is important to keep it clean.

When I finished cleaning, I was about to leave the office when someone opened it first.

A man in formal attire entered the office. I was even dumbfounded because of the strange aura I felt from him.

When he looked at me, I felt like I was electrified. I quickly averted my eyes from him and bowed.

"G-Good morning. I'm done cleaning your office." I greeted him but the new professor did not answer. It just passed me and sat in the swivel chair.

I was swallowed. I don’t know but I felt nervous. "I'm leaving. G-Good morning again, Professor." I and carefully walked so as not to make noise on the floor.

Before I closed it, I peeked and saw him looking up at the ceiling. I grabbed my chest and took a deep breath after I closed it.

If I catch my breath now it’s like I’m running and exhausted.

"Hey? Are you okay?" suddenly Kerky appeared in front of me.

"Y-Yeah. That new professor is a bit weird." I didn't even hesitate to tell that.

"Really? Wew." He whistle. "I have news, he's our new professor starting this Night Class." He added and I looked at him.

"Really? Hmm okay." I just answered. "I'm going straight to the Library. That's where I'm assigned. You?" I asked him.

"In the Cafeteria." He replied.

"I was there later to wash the plates."

"Be careful. I'll be the first." He and I smiled before we parted directions.

When I entered the library, I saw Acasia with her friends. I smiled. She was busy reading the book she was holding. I quickly approached them and peeked at the book she was reading.

I saw that her two friends were surprised. "What are you reading, Asia?" I asked with a smile and she looked at me.

"Excuse me? Shouldn't you be working instead of asking students what they are reading, right?" A question from one of Asia's friends.

"A-Ah I'm just looking at what my sister is reading." I answered and turned to look at my sister.

I saw her close her eyes tightly as if she didn't like my answer to her two friends.

"What?! Is this your sister, Acasia?!" another friend asked in shock.

"N-No," she answer and I fell silent. "You just misheard. Friend. She's just my friend."

"Since when?!"

"E-Earlier. She helped me when I almost stumbled." She replied. "Let's go?" she asked and her two friends looked at me first.

"Yea. We'd better leave. Seriously. I can't imagine you having a sister who is a Janitress. It's good and you're just a friend." Her friend said and they left in front of me.

I looked up and blinked. Prevents tears. When they disappeared from my sight I resumed my work. To map the floor.

'When did you learn to deny me, Asia?'

-

"Lods, can I share your table?" Kerky who just arrived here at Staff Quarters.

"Sure. No problem." I answered and offered her my table.

"What's your dish, Lods? Oh, hotdog again?! Seriously, Lods! Do you like hotdogs?!"

"this is all I can afford in my budget, okay? Tsk. There is nothing you can do about it. The important thing is I have a dish." I answered and ate some rice.

--

"Good evening." I gasped as I looked at it from the door. I just arrived from Staff Quarters. I fell asleep because I was so tired from washing the plates earlier.

"Good evening, Professor."

"I'm Professor Luan Miranda. 40 years old." His introduction. He is old. So maybe that's how he was before. Scary.

Fortunately, I fell asleep before the night class, because the way he teaches makes you really sleepy.

"Are you sleepy, Acadia?" My soul awoke to that question of the new professor.

"N-No, Professor. I-I'm Sorry." I answer and bow.

"Don't bend over because you'll be even more sleepy." The new professor and I immediately did.

He resumed teaching so I could breathe a sigh of relief.

The class ended which was really sleepy. Seriously? Where is Professor Sammy?

"What Lods? HAHAHA take another nap tomorrow night in class." Kerky.

"Crazy! Why? His way of teaching was really drowsy." I answered him frankly and he laughed.

"I noticed that too. Let's go together." He and I just nodded. My house is not that far from his house. I am thankful he became my friend. Somehow, I’m not afraid to go home at night.

"Here I am. Be careful, Kerky" I and waved at him before entering the house.

When I entered the house, I saw my two sisters busy reading a book.

"Asia, can we talk?" I asked and she looked at me.

"What's that again?"

"When did you learn to deny me as your sister?" I asked and she was stunned.

"S-Sis." Acey calling me.

"That you didn't come with me to the University is okay with me. That you didn't call me sister is just okay with me too. But you're going to deny me to your friends as your sister? Ha! Who is your family here? Who are you taking home with? Who are you with at home? Are they? Friends? Me? Just friends?! I just became your friend this morning?!" I shouted and Acey approached me to stop me.

"Sister, that's enough." Acey stopped me but I didn't listen to her.

"Before you embarrass me for being a janitress, at least think of this job — This job is what makes you alive! It makes us alive!" I added and released Acey's hold.

I turned my back on them and went to the mat I was lying on. "Go to sleep." I whispered and lay down on the mat to sleep.
