Thirteen

The sun kissed his sand colored hair. Liam had been wandering about for the whole morning and afternoon. He had gotten up early to find the others. Thus far, he was unsuccessful. He was about to give up until he heard a Voice singing. The voice was so sweet to listen to. It sounded like it was a nymph singing. It caused a wave of calm to wash over him. He closed his eyes in order to savour this sweetness and short lived peace of mind. 

Liam was rooted on the spot until he concluded that the owner of the voice should be investigated. He listened for it. For some reason, there was nothing to be heard. The forest was a quiet as ever, as if it had always been this quiet. "But I'm sure I heard singing," he said to himself. "How come I suddenly feel like there was never anything here to be heard? Let me try again."

He listened again for it, this time with more focus. This time, he heard the sweet voice again. It sounded like it had never
