“Here we are at your precious home, honey.”
Romaine smiled as Dorrien muttered those words. She then leaned to him and removed her helmet. They both kiss by the “Zadzisai’ Residence” sign.
In a blink of an eye, she heard a noise inside the house. Romaine parted her lips and went straight to the door. She searched her bag for the key but couldn’t find it.
“Open the door, Rozelyn! Cyrill!” She pounded at the door several times.
But none of them responded.
“Let me,” Dorrien offered.
He banged and pushed the door, forcing it open. Dorrien saw a
“Seriously, Av? You’re taking me to the doctor?” Anaztasia demanded as soon as she realized that they are in front of the hospital. Apparently, this has been Avril’s ‘surprise’. Avril grimaced as soon as he beheld Anaztasia’s reaction. “Come on, Ana. We have to know about all the essential things about the baby. Besides, the doctor can also teach us how to raise one properly.” She just rolled her eyes and stomped her foot in irritation. “I kept on imagining what your surprise might be but it turns out you’ll just take me to the hospital!” He inched closer and patted her back, “Anaztasia…”&
“Cy, are you ba—Anaztasia!” Rozelyn immediately runs towards her bestfriend who now has a tiny bump on her belly. “How’s your baby?” She asked sweetly. “Babies, Roz.” Rozelyn didn’t expect that. “Th-They’re twins?” She was visibly more surprised than Anaztasia upon finding out that she’s carrying twins. “Yup. It’s a boy and a girl,” Anaztasia purred as she stroked her belly gently.
“Darling, breakfast is ready!” It was the second time around that Isla’s mother, Laara, had called her for breakfast. She could smell the fried eggs, Hungarian sausages, pork and beans, and bacon. But, she didn’t budge—not even a bit.She just stared at the city of Sydney from her bedroom’s window in deep thoughts. Her eyes and body are fixed wholly onto the city that meets her gaze. Isla felt a little guilty for leaving Eku’s daughter in Ireland. She could’ve at least told her who the Blood Mistress was and the real identity of her stepmother Romaine. It was already eight in the morning and her bed was still untouched, as if she never had a sleep for days. “Isla,” her mother knocked twice on her open door. “I said breakfast is ready.
Rozelyn is definitely bad at deciphering cryptic messages—especially one that is through a poem. That voice…it seems to be very familiar. The voice sounds like from someone she already met. The mystical voice that seems to come from far, far away reiterated for three times before the rooster cried for the third time. “Of course, that is Isla Ivane’s voice. Why didn’t I recognize it at first?” She asked herself as she grabbed her pillow to hug it and ponder for what the message’s meaning. Even though she repeated it several times, it’s too complex and difficult for her to decipher. Fiona’s text message last night made her excited and anxio
It had been days—or perhaps weeks, he didn’t know. That day he saw Rosette in an instant, and just realized that he had just mistaken that beautiful stranger. Leo should probably take a break from thinking about Rosette—even for at least an hour, if not a day. “You seemed in deep thoughts again, brother.” Rhella then put a bunch of stir-fried mixed vegetables on his plate and a steamed lobster tail. “I am just thinking what will be the vampires and werewolves move by now. I heard that Maebh Mul—I mean the Blood Mistress is still on track with the plan.” “Liar,” Rhella casually declared as she took a bite from a smoke-grilled salmon.
Leo was happy that he had taught Rhella a lesson: a lesson that he wasn’t as weak as she perceived. A reminder to her that he cannot be easily manipulated as she once thought. He had enchanted the whole house beforehand as he had planned to go outside even before that unexpected fight, though it was expected nonetheless. With his adoptive sister’s temper, it is very easy to spark a fight with her just like lighting a match. Leo smiled. His smile was victorious. For the first time in forever, he had won a fight with Rhella without using that much power during the encounter. All he used was his tongue and eyes and stone-cold face. He spotted a beautiful wine-red-haired girl who entered his favorite beer house. Leo loved redheaded women. Even in a distance
Maebh always knew that she’s special. She knew that there is a stronger power that lies deep inside her, hidden for many years. She also knew that this unimaginable power had been waiting to be unleashed at the right time and at the right place—and at the right moment. She glanced at Ludwig, who was patiently and perfectly pretending to be nice with the Mullins’ niece, Allyssa Mullin. ‘Such a rubbish name,’ Maebh mused. Ludwig waved at her and she waved back. Allyssa waved back as well. When the latter wasn’t looking, she rolled her eyes and touched the locket between her growing breasts. It was the gift from Ludwig yesterday when she blew out the candles of her cake for her twelfth birthday. It was also yester
Romaine almost forgot that it’s her birthday today if not for Cyrill and Rozelyn’s surprise beach party. Though she’s not really a sea-lover person, this is enough anyway. It is not the celebration that is important to her. It is the people around her; the very people who had made this celebration possible. And most of all, she is grateful that she reached her forty-first birthday amidst all of those bloody attacks and unprecedented happenings. “Happy birthday, stepmom,” greeted Rozelyn, the one holding her birthday cake. She never has felt something like this before, as if the humanity in her heart has been revived and has come to life again. Stepmom. Rozelyn ca
