Chapter 5 LACK OF EYESIGHT

‘When did the good-looking kid turned ugly to those kids’ eyes? Had they gone blind? What’s wrong with those kids’ eyes?’ This was Arkael’s first conclusion in his childish mind.

“Why are you still frowning?” Arkael was curious about the reason why his new little brother kept on frowning. He noticed that he kept on staring ahead. What was this little boy’s problem? Had he owed someone big time? He was amused as to how his mind kept on working out with some absurd reasons.

“I... I couldn’t even see you...” the little boy muttered softly lowering his head in shame. He looked so sad and lonely.

Arkael was stunned.

‘Couldn’t see me?’ He repeated the little boy’s words on his young mind. He gazed at the little boy beside him carefully. He raised up his little hand and waved it up in front of the boy’s face repeatedly. He wanted to make sure that he didn’t heard it wrongly.

The little boy wasn’t lying. He hadn’t seen the boy’s hand waving in front of his face. He was totally oblivious to what was happening in front of him. His gaze was locked to nothing. All he could see is an endless darkness!

Arkael starred at the young boy’s eyes and he noticed his blue orbs was covered something like a thin haze. As he starred at it closely, he shook his head in disbelief. Pity clouded his little heart as he looked at the young boy’s eyes. He felt pain, something like hand was squeezing everything inside his little chest. He rubbed it gently in his confused state.

“What do you meant by you can’t see me?” Arkael asked as he balled his little fists in frustration. His emotions was twirling like a tornado, ready to burst. He wanted to cry but he restrained himself hard.

“I... I’m blind bro—...” the young boy was about to say brother but he stopped himself for fearing that the strange boy would reject him right there and then. It would add his miseries even more. Maybe then he couldn’t bear it anymore and wail out!

“Come on, say it please...” Arkael coaxed the little boy to finish his words. He wanted to hear it from him badly, he wanted to be called brother by him!

“B-brother...” the little boy spoke in a cautious tone. He was afraid to be rejected.

“Yes... yes! Make it clear to me brother...” Arkael spoke happily, his childish voice laced with so much joy and excitement.

“I... I’m blind brother...” the young boy spoke, uneasiness laced in his little voice. He kept on gazing somewhere far.

Arkael loosened his clenched fists, he came closer to his newly declared brother and engulfed him in his brotherly hug. “You’re going to be better brother...” he comforted as he patted the young boy’s little back.

“My mom also said so... but... but I never got any better...” the young boy mumbled worriedly. “It’s getting even darker everytime I opened up my eyes...” he added as he shifted on his seat searching for some comfortable position.

“What is your name brother..?” Arkael asked softly.

“Zadkiel Axton Mortel...” the little boy stated proudly. His name was given by his idolized father.

“Hmmm... your name is quite nice to hear...” Arkael complimented. He kept on patting the young boy’s back, soothing him completely.

“How about you brother?” Little Zadkiel inquired, seemingly curious. He released out from his hold on his newly brother’s shirt.

“Call me Arky...” Arkael suggestively spoke. Releasing the little boy from his grasp.

“Arky...” Zadkiel mumbled softly. A smile escaped from his little lips. He looked so genuinely happy.

The two then went on talking and laughing while settling themselves on the wooden bench. Their loud laughters echoed on the mini park of their clubhouse village.

Back to the present...

Ringgg...

Ringgg...

Ringgg...

Arkael was taken back to his right senses when his mobile phone ranged. An indication that he was having an incoming call. He opened his eyes with so much reluctance and decided to take the annoying call.

He shoved his hand on his pocket trousers and took out his phone. He took a glance at the number which kept on appearing on his phone screen. He couldn’t help but frown slightly. It was his wife, she was calling him. He tapped it on and aligned it to his ear.

“What’s up?” He asked, impatience was clearly shown onto his voice as he roamed his eyes around his surroundings with vigilance. He was making sure that nobody heard him talking on his phone.

“Mitch, one of your flings are here looking for you, what should I need to do?” The woman’s voice sounded like she wasn’t pissed off by her man’s impatient voice towards her. Even non-combatant when she said something about her husband’s fling.

“Deal with her according to your identity...” he commanded like the current issue has nothing to do with him. He was always been like that ever since he had grown up into a real man.

“Got it! By the way, your mom called me...” the woman began.

“Why? What does she wants from you again this time?” He asked, squinting his green eyes turning them into sharp. He was curious as to why his mother called his wife.

“Nah... tsk! tsk! tsk! She was asking something bigger from me...” the woman’s voice sounded like it was laced with uneasiness.

“Fire away! Don’t beat around the bush!” Arkael squeezed out his words through his gritted teeth. He clenched his jaws, ready to hear the mind-blowing request from his mother.

“Goddd! Mitch! She... she was asking for a grandchild!” The woman’s voice rose up in a high pitch as she narrated her mother-in laws life changing request.

“Damn it! You don’t have to worry about it! I’ll talk to her later...” he sounded pissed off as he spoke his words in a cold manner. He dropped the call in a huff and ascend himself towards his personal elevator.

Unconsciously, he had pressed the sixth floor button as he was in a daze, fully taken by his fury. He was mad at his mother’s wish! How could she ask for a grandchild when she exactly knows that he hadn’t had consented his marriage like the public had known?

He failed to read his mother’s mind and he forgot how scheming she was! Yes! His mother had schemed a lot and he hated it when he discovered it! But what could he do? That woman was exactly his biological mother and he, as her biological son had to endure her!

His mother’s last scheme was his marriage. He could still remember the day when his mother turned his life upside down in just a few days. As he thought of it, he became furious again.

He kept on clenching his fists. His face turned a shade of red and his knuckles turned white. He looked like he was in a daze, not exactly on his right state of mind.

Ding!

The elevator’s door automatically opened and it brought Arkael to his senses. He descended himself unconsciously from it and took his steps towards the small bar counter. He settled down comfortably and gestured his hand towards the bartender to come over.

The male bartender came closer in a huff, “...what do you want to have sir?”

“Scotch on the rock, double!” He responded coldly. He was literally pissed off and he wanted to get his ass drunk!

“Right away Sir!” The bartender moved his hands right there and then taking their CEO’s order in priority. He didn’t want to piss their boss off or they might end up being fired!

Few moments later and a glass filled with his desired alcohol came into his view. They’re so fast huh?!

“Here you are boss...” the male bartender spoke as he dropped the glass filled with a strong liquor to his employer.

“Thanks...” Arkael mumbled shortly as he gulped down the contents of his glass without hesitation.

“Arkael...” a female voice called him from his behind. The loud clanging of her heels indicated that she was heading towards him. Almost there!

Silence and only light music resonated the whole area as he drank his ordered alcoholic drinks. He was ignoring the female whom had called him. He was sick of them all!

“Arkael Mitchel...” the woman couldn’t help stressing out his full name as she came closer beside him.

“What are you doing here?” He asked flatly. He wasn’t interested in talking with this woman beside him but something was running in his mind.

The woman came closer to him, almost melting herself into his skin and whispered seductively, “...I want you!” She then bit her lower lip as she began to hold his thigh, touching him erotically. Desire was evident on her eyes.

Arkael squinted his green eyes sharply. He tilted his head towards the woman’s face and he starred at her. His eyes flashed with coldness and hatred for the woman.

Series of deep breathes he kept on filling his lungs due to his anxiety. He stood up from his taken bar stool, shoved his hand to his pocket and took out his thick wallet. He rummage a few thousand bills and threw it into the bar counter.

“Keep the change!” He spoke loudly to the bartender and averted his gaze back to the woman. “Come with me!” He dragged the woman roughly towards the comfort room area.

“Ouch! Where are you taking me?” The woman hissed in pain feeling Arkael’s tight hold on her wrist. “Goodness! Couldn’t you slow down a bit? I’m wearing a pair of high heels for f*cking sake!” She added loudly. She was loosing her temper as she had been dragged out in a rough way.

“Stop your f*cking mouth from yelling...” he warned seriously as he starred at the woman coldly. He then continued to dragged the woman to the men’s room.

“Can’t you even book a presidential suite for us?” The woman sounded pissed. She was going to be taken on the men’s room.

“Stop complaining!” He spoke coldly, held the door knob and pushed the door open. He then slammed it shut making the whole comfort room shook a bit.

“Damn it! You’re a billionaire but you can’t bring your woman to a luxurious suite!” She complained endlessly but still she kept on following him towards the empty cubicle and finally closed the door.

Arkael smiled evilly as he starred at the woman totally ignoring her nonsensical blubbering mouth. He was going to teach this woman a very good lesson today to put her in the right place! How dare she declare herself as his woman? Even his wife wasn’t his woman! For him no one deserves the real title of being his woman!
