Merah went speechless and utterly dumbfounded. She didn't move and was still staring intently at him. Her eyes stabbed at the man’s pair trying to check the authenticity and sincerity of his words.

She had recalled that this guard wasn’t indeed treating her like an animal if he was ordered to take his turn by their leader. He was always looking reluctant on accepting the order but he took her gently and slowly seemingly afraid to hurt her. She was baffled though, and would always suspect him for something she couldn't point out.

“You had said that you were one of my husband’s men, were you... Were you still talking to him?” Merah asked attentively. She was hoping that she wasn’t lured to be caught by the guard or else he would also end up eating the food that she made.
