Always in a hurry

What happened two days ago never left my mind, a part of my brain was itching to find out more about that man and his work but another part of me knew better than to get mixed up in the mess, especially if he was doing something illegal.

I tried to ask grandma about him but got nothing, the whole town knew almost nothing about him, it was like he mysteriously appeared one day out of nowhere.

Anna was the only person who seemed to know something about him from all the people around me.

I just needed to find Anna. It was a free period and I knew exactly where Anna would be, I made my way towards the last corridor of the ground floor.

The smell of old books welcomed me as soon as I crossed the door, the library was nearly empty with a boy sitting on one of the tables, scribbling something furiously on his notebook. Then my eyes fell on the pin straight dark blonde hair of the girl sitting on the corner of the table with her head buried in the large book in front of her.

I gave a small smile to the librarian who was looking at me through the big glasses resting on the bridge of her nose. Without giving any reaction she went back to her phone and I went to take a seat next to Anna.

Upon realizing someone sat next to her, Anna closed the book with an annoyed look on her face.

"What are you doing here?"

I looked at the biology book in front of her and the colorful notes next to the book, "I came here to study."

She raised her eyebrows, not looking convinced by my answer.

As she saw me looking at her notes she quickly put them under the book, closing it as well, "I am not giving you my notes," I suppressed the urge to roll my eyes and smiled instead.

"That's fine, I don't need your notes."

"Can you go and sit somewhere else I have to study because unlike you some of us actually needs good marks to get admission."

With a frown, I responded, "I have straight A's in almost all of my subjects."

She ignored my words completely and opened the book one more time.

"Hey Anna, how did you know so much about that man?"

"What man?" she asked, not taking her eyes off the book.

"Damien."

Her eyes kept moving along the words as she pointed them with her index finger, "My dad told me, a lot of people like to talk while waiting to get the work done in his garage."

"Did he tell you anything else?" I asked, keeping my voice low after the librarian gave me a hard look.

Anna's finger stopped moving, "If you have a crush on him, get in line because so do most of the people of our school."

I wrinkled my nose up, not because he looked ugly or anything in fact he was one of the most beautiful humans I had seen in my life, but the reason for my reaction was his shady behavior, "I just want to know more about him considering you said he was a competitor."

"He has people to do most of his work, he does not make deals directly, his men do everything for him"

I did not respond and thought about those two men.

Anna started closing her books and collecting notes, "Class is about to start, are you coming or just going to daydream here?"

I shook my head in reaction.

I took the second seat next to the window. Much to Anna's dismay, she had to take the seat behind me, she always liked sitting in front of the teacher from where she could see everything clearly and answer every question before everyone else.

I just had to endure the class for the next thirty minutes and I was more than ready to go home, the teacher started explaining stuff and I dozed off looking outside the window.

Just one more month then I would be free from this town.

"Eleanor!"

With a jerk, I looked at my teacher who was giving me an unimpressed look with her lips pressed in a thin line, every eye was in my direction.

"I asked you something."

I bit the inside of my cheeks, "I am sorry I didn't hear you, can you repeat it?"

"I asked are you listening but don't worry you gave me an answer."

Someone snickered and I looked at Anna with a frown, so did the teacher, "Is this funny to you, Hannah?"

"No," she answered softly.

"This is unexpectable, first you embarrassed me that day in front of everyone, and now this. That's it, you both will help the librarian after school."

I opened my mouth to argue but she was looking at me with her dark eyes telling me if I dared to say another word it would be really bad for me.

I stayed silent.

But for the rest of the class, I could feel Anna's glare on the back of my head.

Without waiting she went to the library, I picked up my stuff and followed her.

The librarian raised her eyebrow looking at Anna but said nothing.

"Put these books on the bookshelves and you are free to go," she announced in a heavy voice and went back to sit on her desk lazily.

I took a deep breath in just by noticing the pile of books on the table.

"This is happening because of you," Anna grumbled picking up a few books from the pile.

I rolled my eyes and picked up some books from the second pile, "No one asked you to laugh."

I started putting the books in the dark brown bookshelves making sure not to mess something up and avoid a grumpy Anna.

After almost one and a half hours we were done.

The sky was no longer bright and blue. The grey clouds covered the sky over my head, getting darker with every passing minute.

"Great," I whispered under my breath and started walking quickly towards home.

The path was empty, maybe no one wanted to stay out during this weather.

Without paying much attention I continued walking but felt some footsteps in the distance. I increased my speed, clutching my bag and holding my phone in one hand ready to call the police.

The steps kept getting closer and closer, I tried to look behind and did not pay any attention towards the road as a result I stumbled upon something.

I closed my eyes ready to kiss the ground but strong arms kept me in my position.

I opened my eyes to stare at the captivating blue eyes reminding me of the ocean. He looked at me with a small smile showing the dimple on his right cheek, "Are you always in a hurry?"
