13. Ancient Magical Beast
When Leon came back to his castle, he rushed to Felen’s room through the balcony. The first thing that caught his attention was Felen, who was relaxing on the sofa. She looked normal in a plain white nightgown, but somehow in his eyes, she was stunning.
“What are you doing there?”
Felen’s soft voice pulled Leon out of his fantasy. He adjusted himself so as not to look like a foul. It would be a shame if she found out that he caught off guard because of her.
“You should have greeted me with a warm hug or at least a light kiss,” he said as he jumped off the guardrail.
“Why should I welcome someone trespassing into my room?” Her arms crossed.
“...But, I’m not a person?”
His casual answer, wrapped in a questioning tone, created wrinkles on her forehead. He was not in the category of ‘people,’ but another dimensional being. She had lost the words she wanted to say to him when she realise that.

However, Felen, who could not witness all that, begged Leon to let her out of that cursed place. “Leon, I want to get out of here.” Her grip on his arm tightened as the sighs, groans, and growls of the humans grew louder. “Please...” She gave up, lowering her ego so Leon would let her go. “Very well.” She was lucky because this time he didn’t refuse it. He helped her by supporting her waist. Her nauseous made her vision blurry and so did her focus. “The human body is indeed weak,” he said with pity. She did not respond to his blatant ridicule. The night sky had taken over by a shining sun. Yet Felen’s journey in the human world — her hometown, still continuing. After a melodrama due to witnessing an incident that became a traumatic experience, Leon brought her to a different place. However, unlike before, where he used invisible magic so other humans wouldn’t notice their presence, this time he and Felen blended with them. They were like a couple on a date, holding hands together. She just followed him without saying much. She was still in a state of confusion and shock. Her mind wandered elsewhere. She didn’t even realise she almost hit a street lamp pole in front. People passing by made her head dizzy. The bright and warm sunlight against her skin, the happy sound of a child running in a small alley, a vehicle driving down the street, the shops lined up, the sound of birds chirping, and a cat meowing — it all seemed unreal to her. She felt like she was in a long dream.

The greatest loss of human beings is when they are being abandoned or betrayed. *** “So what do you want to do, Milady?” Leon asked. He stood beside Felen, waiting for the decision his future bride would make. Right now, they were in a tall building that made it easy to see the surrounding area. Felen, who was spying Barend and his new family from quite a distance away, ignored his question. Her mind was in deep thought after seeing Abelard, who had grown up. He looked exactly alike to young Barend. They are like two peas in a pond. She was sure that no one would doubt him as Barend’s son, even if others knew he was from the slums. She still wore an innocent-looking smile, hoping it would reduce Barend’s suspicion. She ignored the piercing gaze from Abelard. Not even once she glanced at him. She hated him for snatching her position, so she didn’t want to get involved with him anymore. Her goal is to avenge Aghnya on Barend. “You’d better change your clothes first, then come have dinner with us,” Barend said to her. “The maid will help you with all your needs.” A maid approached Felen. She bowed respectfully, then escorted her upstairs. The maid leads her to her childhood room before moving to the west building. Surprise flashed in his clear green eyes, seeing Felen’s demeanour changed 180 degrees, as if their conversation earlier had never happened. It confused him, yet he got along with her plans. “Let’s go together, Abelard,” she said in a cheerful voice. Barend noticed Felen and Abelard. He greeted them with a fake smile. She realised it, yet she smirked with a stony gaze as an intimidating aura emitted from her. She is not naïve. Humans are full of surprises. *** Felen’s body shook with anger. Her adrenaline was racing, and she craved to vent his resentment by crushing Barend. The small dagger in her pocket was keen to be used to torture his father. However, the ropes tying her hands, feet, and upper body restricted her from performing it. She looked back up at Leon, who kept ignoring her. “Untie me, Leon!” This time, there was no pleading tone in her voice. She told him to help her untie the ropes that bound her entire body. “Why should I do such a troublesome thing, Felenia?” He grinned. The scene in front of him was quite enjoyable, but he had no intention of doing something without being paid handsomely. Her brain thought hard about what could draw him. Then, she said what runs into her mind without a second thought. “I’ll show you an amusing show.” There was not the slightest hesitation in her voice when she said those words
