35. Abelard's Decision

"Not good! You can't even do something trivial like this." Barend threw the thick book that was on the table right at Abelard's face. He stood on his knees. The man's face reddened and his veins tightened. His jaw tightened, holding back the anger that was bubbling because the plan he had devised didn't go well.

"Sorry, Bard." That was all Abelard could say.

"I'll give you one more chance."

Abelard clenched his fists tightly. However, he didn't say anything, waiting for Barend to finish his orders first.

"Find another sacrifice. The more, the better. That is if you don't want your mother to be a part of it." Barend said in a sharp and cold tone. He circled his desk made of the finest oak.

"This time do it properly and neatly, without the slightest mistake. You are the one who will carry on my title. I hope you don't let
