Admiral Anali de Jardin gawked at the tacmap in front of her with absolute awe. Freya’s captured devastator had caused so much damage that there was literally nothing left of the enemy. The other admirals in the tactical bridge were equally as awed.
High Admiral Halbrecht gasped loudly at everything he had seen thus far. He watched as the devastator’s weapon signals rose far beyond anything he had ever seen in his career. And he watched as it single-handedly wiped out a fleet. Or at least, what remained of it.
It suddenly dawned on him that warfare had changed significantly just now. He wasn’t sure how, exactly. Only that it did. And that perhaps the galaxy would never be the same again.
A slight tremor shook through him as Freya joined the tactical bridge. Her holoprojection shimmered even as she
Taloren Prime, Throne System, Imperial Domain of the Boundless DrogarThe beautiful red spiral towers at the center of the floating Imperial city stood majestically under the sunlight. Despite the numerous armed defenses floating all around them, and the thousands of armed red-robed protestors at the bottom, things looked absolutely serene.Little did anyone else know, but deep inside its Parliamentary Grand Hall, its multitude of senators were in rabid, incredibly heated debates with each other. The passions were so high that some were practically screaming at others across the hall itself.Dozens of eyecast drones were scattered all over the place, unsure of which senator to focus their attention on. There was simply too much talking and yelling and cursing and shouting happening all at once.
Grevatia Relay Complex ASY-9, Avetha System, Great House GrevatiaThe ninth Grevatia Relay Complex in the Avetha system was a sprawling base out in the middle of open space. The base itself was comprised of numerous docking stations, warehouses, and operational centers, all of which served the cargo cruisers and haulers that were passing through. In essence, it was one of the many official waystations that House Grevatia employed as part of their supply network across the house, or to the greater Hegemony. For the most part, haulers often dropped off all or part of their cargo, which was then picked up and hauled elsewhere by some other ship. Some of the goods that passed through AS-9 were fairly standard - food, medicine, nanites, vices, and other necessities or sundries. These were the most basic things that all of Grevatia requi
Orsethii stood on the bridge of the lead Imperial cruiser and reviewed the holoreports around her with abject approval. Her numbers looked very good, despite the casualties her fleet had suffered.More than that, the tactical intelligence reported high chances of winning, which climbed higher with every moment that passed. It was clear that Orsethii’s strike fleet was the superior one, despite having a seemingly lesser fleet. After all, she didn’t have a battleship on her side. Most of what she had were summaries or predictions, which she found lacking. She then glanced around in search of more complete sets of data, but couldn’t find what she was looking for.“I need the raw casualty reports,” she commanded. “I
Armored assault Discordians charged through the heavily defended passageway into engineering. Though they were under constant fire, they pressed on through regardless. They swung their halberds at the numerous turrets that had popped out of the walls and ceilings, and sliced them apart. The remainder of the turrets’ mangled frames sparked and sizzled uselessly, even as the Discordians ran past. They went further down the passageway still under fire, and charged at the heavily armed security personnel stationed at the other end.Their opponents’ bullets dug into the Discordians’ thick armor and struck them underneath. Despite the damage their bodies took, they powered through and cut their opponents down in a flash. The walls and floors were painted with Federation blood as their bodies fell t
Nyvrass II, Nyvrass System, Imperial Domain of the Boundless DrogarThe space above Nyvrass II was in absolute chaos. The burning wreckages of half-destroyed Imperial ships rained down onto the vast city-scape of the industrial planet. They came tumbling down from lower orbit, and crashed into the massive industrial complexes below. The entirety of the planet’s surface had been completely converted into a single industrial city, and was jam-packed with manufactories, fabrication bays, material depots, munitions storage, recycling plants, and so on.Absolutely everything needed to create weapons of war was built on the planet itself. The planet was home to an entire wartime production chain, starting with containers filled with raw materials to crates filled with fully-furnished naval guns.
By this time, entire swaths of the city beneath were ablaze and had been reduced to little more than piles of colorful rubble. But none of that stopped the vast tornado of destruction.Amidst all of the combat within the swirling storm of metal, the two devastators faced off with vicious determination. And since they were both Imperial ships, their weapons were moderately effective against each others’ armor.Dark orange disintegration beams crossed between them and struck each others’ thick chitin. Both of them tore each others’ armor apart with equal amounts of fury and power. They etched deep scars into the chitin and carved off huge chunks. Most of which fell down the city below, which demolished anything still left standing and added to the g
Taloren Prime, Throne System, Imperial Domain of the Boundless DrogarThe skies above Lacroseth City were beautiful and clear, while the streets far, far below were abuzz with activity. There were throngs of drogar going about, busy as bees and living their lives. Some of the streets were rife with political chatter and discussion, as was the norm around the towers. After all, it was the center of Imperial power and so all manner of political discussions and arguments filled the air.But normal citizens and political pundits were far from the only people all around the towers.A good portion of the streets surrounding the towers were taken up by thousands of Sanguine Fundamentalists, all of them protesting angrily against the powers-that-be.
As Retholis and Orsethii argued far above, the crowds grew wilder down below. To the alarm of the numerous security forces posted up around the towers, the protest groups grew larger and larger in size. More and more Sanguine Fundamentalists poured into the lines and packed the streets.More signs, more shouting, more guns. But what was worse than the increased numbers was that those who joined all wore heavy dark red armor. Not only that, but the security forces’ sensors detected more and more military-grade weaponry, from charged slug repeaters to electrostatic throwers to shoulder-mounted launchers.Tension filled each of the security force commanders as they watched the Fundamentalists’ numbers rise. Their nerves blew apart the moment the fundamentalists started shooting.
