Chapter 14

Angelica stood at the desk, staring blankly through the woman who repeated her question with a smile. 

"How can I help you?" 

The woman's thick red perma-smile faltered as Angelica turned away without buying a ticket. 

"I can't return without him," she mumbled. 

As the line of people pushed past her, Angelica was forced away from the ticket desk. That level of rudeness would bother her at any other time, but today it passed by unnoticed. What was she going to do?

'What can I do?' she thought. 'I don't know what to do.'

She stared at the two girls whose names she'd never bothered to learn. Both of their small, pretty faces twisted in fear and confusion.
