Chapter Eighteen

Laurie was inspecting Kate, trying to see if there were any other physical signs that she was in any kind of pain. Other than the bags under her eyes and the tired way she seemed to move.

Kate, in turn, was simply looking at Laurie, trying to see if she could read anything about what the shorter woman would do or say. Surely having Laurie come to her was a good thing. She didn't think Laurie would come over if she wasn't at least ready to talk.
