Chapter Twenty

Laurie felt the rumble on Kate's chest and leaned back to look at her, using her elbow for support. "Hey, what's wrong?" She asks, noticing Kate's shift in mood.

Kate does her best to appear calmer than she's actually feeling. "Nothing. It's nothing."

"It's something if you're all growly," Laurie says eyebrow raised. She could tell something was bothering the woman and she wasn't going to let up until she found out what it was. As much as she appreciated it, she was tired of having Kate make herself feel bad trying to make her comfortable. It was her turn now, to make sure Kate was okay.

"It's nothing. Everything's fine." Kate tries to reassure Laurie. Although, it felt more like she was telling herself. She was feeling a mix of emotions and she wasn't quite sure how to handle it.

Kate didn't think something as simple as Laurie's scent being slightly different would bother her so much, b
