Chapter 3

Kiara:

To say that I was losing my mind would be an understatement.

The man was crazy if he thought that I would agree to such a job.

“The contract is in your hand, Ms. Kiara. You have both options of signing or leaving. Both would have their consequences, but you’d need to measure which one would be more in your advantage and which would be in your disadvantage” Mr. Damien said looking me in the eye “I’ll give you fifteen minutes to decide. Alessio…”

Mr. Damien nodded at his son and the two of them walked out of the office, leaving me alone with my thoughts which felt like they were about to make my brain explode. The fact that the man was right, he brought me here knowing at least that I wouldn’t be able to face my dad if I went home.

I read through the contract despite my brain begging me not to, I knew it was being foolish and stupid, that I should just put the papers down and leave. But I wasn’t going to back down now, not when I got this far away from home for the first time.

It was one for until Alessio was better, no specific date, unless I decided to quit. I had to travel with Alessio if he needed to get out of town, and I would be with him if he went out. Whether it was to clubs, or events. I needed to be on my best behavior in front of strangers and I had to be sure to care for my hygiene and looks. Sighing, I took out a blue pen from inside my bag and signed the contract. knowing deep down that it was foolish of me to do so, but this is what I signed up for when I first studied the major.

Mr. Damien walked inside just as I put the contract on the coffee table which was in front of me. His eyebrow raised as he saw me putting the pen back in my purse, a knowing smile plastered on his lips as he knew that he got his way in me signing that stupid paper.

“When do I start?” I asked standing up.

“You will rest for the day, get the jetlag done. The maids are already fixing your closet, your room is the one in front of Alessio’s. Your rooms are the only ones on the floor, there’s also a sitting area in front of the room if you get bored of it, and you have your own living room in your room. There’s a library with books which you can always read if you wish, and you’re more than welcome to join us on the dining table for meals” Mr. Damien said softly. This time his voice changing to that was of a father speaking to his daughter “you’ll also meet my son Arda, and my daughter, Alexandra. But you’re initially in charge of Alessio”

I didn’t say anything for a while, not knowing what to say or do anyway. Everything was too much for me to handle all at once, but I knew that dealing with such situations was the only way I was going to technically grow up. If I stayed in my comfort zone at home. There was no way that I was going to mature up like other girls who were my age were.

“If you don’t have any questions, Maria, one of your assigned maids, is outside waiting to escort you to your room. Get yourself settled, then feel free to roam around the house and check it out if you want, familiarize yourself with your surrounding. There’s also a back garden if you want to go outside for some fresh air, and you have your own terrace, which I don’t want you jumping out of, but you can always sit and read a book or just relax out on” Mr. Damien said making me smile and nod.

“Thank you, Mr. Damien” I said calmly as I got up from the chair I was sitting on. It was the only thing I could come up with, the man had done his part in bringing me here and was doing his best to keep me as comfortable as possible. I would be stupid for not being grateful, any other man, including my father, would’ve had me staying in the maid’s floor, and would never even think of allowing me to join him and his family on the dining table. Mr. Damien here was treating me fairly, and for that I must be grateful.

“It’s a pleasure having you here, Kiara” he said extending his hand for me to shake. I nodded and shook his hand before walking out the door to find a maid, I’m assuming Maria, standing by the door, waiting for me as Mr. Damien had said. Her eyes met mine and she nodded giving me a professional smile before walking forward, guiding me through the house toward the stairs. People who saw me, men in suits glared at me, and maids muttered between one another as I walked past them.

“This is your room, Ms. Kiara” Maria said opening the door for me. I nodded at her and walked inside to find to maids fixing my clothes and putting them away inside the closet. My makeup and lotions were already fixed on top of the white dresser which had a mirror, the bed was a queen sized one which I would be getting lost on. The comfort its vision gave was enough to make me want to lay on it. There was also an open door which revealed the bathroom and a sitting area with white leather couches and a TV.

“If there’s anything that you want to change, please let me know, and we’ll have it changed for you maximum by tomorrow morning” Maria said and I nodded at her not knowing what to say. To say that I wasn’t impressed would be the lie of the century. Hell, I thought I was rich, but this family literally proved me otherwise. If anyone had money in this world it was them.

“The room is fine, Maria. Thank you!” I said politely and Maria nodded at me.

“Would you like us to set the bath for you while the girls finish your room?”

“Oh, please, that would be great” I said before I could stop myself. I needed the shower, my muscles were aching from the long flight, and after everything that I’ve seen today. The fact that I found myself thinking of the man that had pointed a gun at me almost an hour ago annoyed me. But I couldn’t help but feel mesmerized by his gorgeous blue eyes.

Well, yeah, a long hot shower was in order.

“Okay, please wait here while I prepare the bath for you” Maria said and I nodded sitting on the couch which was pretty much the only place which was empty of my clothes or belongings. Watching as the women put everything in the closet.

I laid my head on the couch’s armrest, sighing in contentment as I did only for my train of thoughts to be broken when my phone rang in my purse. Taking it out of the bag, I couldn’t help but have my heart fall to my stomach as I read through the caller’ ID.
