CHAPTER SIX

Ameliah sat down on floor in one of the hallway as she cried silently.

*I missed you guys so much, mom, dad. I miss you* She thought with her head on her knees as she sobbed.

Stephen walked up to her and stared at her for a while, whatever madam Louise had said to her must have hurt her really bad. He sighed loudly, walked and stood in front of her. He then squatted in front of her and tapped her shoulder.

She looked up startled and stared at Stephen’s face with red teary eyes.

“Hey, would you stop crying already?” Stephen said as they stared at each other.

“What if i don’t want to stop crying, will you fire me?” She asked still crying.

“No, I won’t fire you. But you look super ugly when you cry.” Stephen said.

“Does that mean I am beautiful?” She asked.

“Nope” He replied.

“Then you mean to say I am ugly” Ameliah said as she began crying again.

Stephen sighed frustratedly and tuff his hair.

“Okay fine, you’re beautiful. So stop crying, you’re ugly when you cry” Stephen said reluctantly.

She stopped crying and smiled at him which made his heart race. Weird.

He brought his hands to her face and wiped off the tears. Ameliah froze as his hands made contacts with her face. She just stared at Stephen.

“Hey, back to earth. I know I’m breathtaking but you shouldn’t exaggerate” Stephen said, snapping his fingers, with a smirk on his lips.

“You wish you were” Ameliah said and scoffed loudly. She gasped as she realized what she just said.

“I’m sorry, Master” She immediately said with her gaze down.

Stephen sat down beside her.

“So what has she done for you to tear up like that” Stephen asked.

“Oh! She slapped me, I don’t want to put blames on her, I deserve it anyway. I broke one of your vase with my clumsiness. But what hurt me particularly was the fact that she abused me verbally telling me that I’m foolish and that my parents abandoned me.” She said as she tried to hold back her tears.

“Don’t cry again, I’ll help you.” Stephen said, equally surprised with his words.

“Oh no, no need. I don’t want to get madam Louise into trouble.” she insisted.

He then noticed a cut on her cheek. He touched it.

“How did you get this?” Stephen said.

“I got it from one of the pieces of the vase” She said.

“Come let’s get that treated, you might get an infection on that.” Stephen said and stood up then gave his hand for her to take.

“Um, no need…I’ll get that treated on my own.” She said with a smile.

Stephen exhaled loudly then grabbed her hand and pulled her up. She crashed on his chest. She placed her hand on his chest as she stared at him. She noticed she was very short when standing close to him.

They could both feel the electric wave that was coursing through their bodies but they were frozen.

“Um, sorry” Ameliah said and pulled away from him.

Stephen stared at his hands and looked back at Ameliah.

“Have I met you before?” Stephen asked.

“I don’t know” She replied.

He shrugged the feeling away but the thought still remained at the back of his mind.

Stephen walked to his room and Ameliah followed behind. He opened the door for her to enter, something he has never done before. She entered and he followed behind, closing the door behind him.

“Have a seat” He said and entered the bathroom. He came out shortly with the first aid box.

He sat down in front of her and then dabbed the cotton on her cheek. She winced slightly. He then blew air on the bruised area in order to soothe the pain.

Ameliah’s heart kept beating fast at the closeness of their faces. She just stood still and stared at him. She blushed lightly when he blew air on her face.

“All done” Stephen said and stood up to go and keep the first aid box. He smiled as he entered his bathroom. He had being listening to her heartbeat all along, and was pleased at what he noticed.

“Didn’t know I had so much effort on her” He mumbled to no one in particular.

He then walked out of the bathroom back to her.

“Don’t worry about cleaning the kitchen and all the likes. From now on you’ll be in charge of my personal needs. You’ll be my personal maid.” He said and walked out of the room leaving a dumbstruck Ameliah.

He walked towards the living room and met Jessica pacing to and fro while madam Louise was just standing there biting her fingernails.

He walked fully into the living room and all eyes turned to him

“Babe!!” Jessica exclaimed, then ran and kissed him. He kissed her back unwillingly, and pulled away shortly.

“I missed you babe,” Jessica said with a smile.

“Me too” He replied and faked a smile.

Stephen turned to madam Louise

“From now on the new girl will be my personal maid” he said.

She nodded and walked away briskly.

He turned to face Jessica again.

“So what did your father said about the threat Cassius sent?” he asked.

“Good news, dad said he succeeded in tracking the location of Cassius” Jessica said beaming with smiles.

Stephen smiled and said, “That’s indeed a good news. We’ll attack in three days, I need you to train harder, Jessie” Stephen said

“Sure cupcake” She smiled and hugged him.

“Excuse me” Ameliah said coming into the living room with her head down.

They disengaged from the hug and looked at her.

“Um master, your lunch is ready” She said.

Jessica faked a smile and said, "Hope you’re feeling better now?”

“Yes ma'am. Thank you for defending me” Ameliah said in sincere gratitude.

“It’s nothing. I’m Jessica by the way, Stephen’s girlfriend.” Jessica said and pecked Stephen on the lips.

Ameliah felt as if her heart was stabbed. She looked down and faked a smile.

“Nice to meet you Miss Jessica. I’m Ameliah” She said.

“I have a friend too, her name is Ameliah." Jessica said. "We used to play around when we were kids and also we loved eating corn” she added, reminiscing.

Ameliah immediately looked up at her with a shocked expression.

“Gigi?” Ameliah said inquiringly.

Jessica looked shocked too.

“Ameliah?” She said with a surprised smile on her face.

On recognising each other, they immediately hugged each other tightly with a smile on their faces. After some minutes they both disengaged from the hug.

“How have you been Amie, I thought I lost you” Jessica said.

“No, not at all a man saved me from the vampires” Ameliah replied.

Jessica’s eyes widened, she realised that Ameliah now knows that the vampires exist.

“Are you sure it was a vampire?” Jessica asked, pretending to be ignorant.

“Yes, they killed my parents. I hate vampires with all my life, I hate them!” Ameliah spat out in anger.

“I’m sorry Amie dear” Jessica replied in sympathy.

Meanwhile Stephen stood there staring at them, he was completely lost in their whole discussion.

*Ameliah hates vampires, she knows Jessica?* Stephen thought.

The two girls discussed for some time before it was time for Jessica to leave. She said her goodbyes and drove away.

Stephen closed back the door and looked at Ameliah.

“You know her?” Stephen asked.

“Yes master, we grew up together. She’s one of my best friends.” Ameliah replied with a smiled…

“And you said you hate vampires, right?” Stephen asked.

She nodded and he felt his heart sunk down.

*Why do I feel like this?* he thought.

“I’ll take my leave now master” She bowed and walked away heading to her room.

Immediately she entered her room, she sighed loudly. She was really happy to find out that Jessica also survived but she couldn't help but feel a little bit jealous of her friend.

“Is it love?” She said to no one in particular.

She shook her head…

“No it can’t be love, let’s just say it's a crush” She said and nodded.

Her face dulled down again.

“But how can I be crushing on the boyfriend of my best friend” She said and fell on the bed then buried her face in the pillow.
