Chapter II- It's Not Over

Lorence is on his way to meet his friend when he suddenly heard a familiar voice and familiar laugh. He immediately raise his head and saw that familiar face smiling at some other guy. Anger and jealousy filled his vision. "That smile only belongs to me, me and only me Miya," Lorence mumbled to himself. He waited for the girl to turn, to notice him but she didn't which angers him more.

....

Sensing the man in front of her burning in rage. Miya immediately stops her track and lookup. "Look who we have here, long time no see Lorence." Miya smiled at him.

"I've been talking to you all this while and you didn't even hear a word?" Lorence is on the verge of losing his temper.

"What???... Oh sorry, I have my earphones." Miya said while removing her earphones. The truth is, she heard everything that Lorence said but pretended like she didn't. The moment she notice Lorence when she turned her back a while ago she secretly put her earphones on, no music is playing so she clearly heard everything. "What are you saying again? Why do you look so angry? I doubt it's something important since we've only seen each other now after all these years."

"Let's talk!" Lorence grabbed Miya's hand dragging her back to the cafe she just went in with Max.

Miya struggles to pull back her hand. "Woah Woah relax dude, why are you so angry? What do we need to talk about? Isn't greeting each other not enough?"

Lorence was startled at first, "Dude?? Say that again? What did you just call me?"

Miya scratch her head, acting like she was thinking "Hmmm...Is something wrong with that? Isn't it what friends use to call each other these days." She paused for a moment as if she realized something. "Ow is it because I acted like we're close? You're angry because of that right? Well, I guess you have the right to be angry it's been more than 1 year since we saw each other. And I guess we've never been friends... not even before. I'm sorry if I offended you. Also, I'm sorry I can't accompany you to the cafe I just went there and I already have a prior engagement so I really have to go." Miya turn her back and started to walk away when Lorence grab her hand again.

"Are you avoiding me? Are you running away again?" Lorence's voice is filled with anger and loneliness.

Miya look back and said with a smile "No, it's not what you think. I don't have any reason to avoid you and it's really true that I need to go now. And I'm really glad to have met you again bye." With that Miya pulled her hand back and immediately ride a taxi leaving Lorence behind.

"Where are you heading Ma'am?" The taxi driver asks.

"Anywhere is fine, just leave this place immediately please," Miya answered, her voice is starting to crack and moisture starts building in her eyes.

A smile appeared on her face, a sinister smile. "I can't believe you actually said that you're glad to meet him again." Miya thought to herself.

.....

After that day, Lorence always waits inside the cafe hoping for a chance to meet Miya again. Days have passed but there's no trace of Miya. Today is his final day in this province since he needs to go back to where he came from.

Just as when he was about to leave the cafe he saw Miya walking out of the library with Max, they were both heading to the cafe.

"We meet again Miya." Lorence greeted her as soon as they enter the cafe.

Miya was startled at first but she quickly adjust her expression. "Fancy meeting you here Max, by the way, this is Max, my friend. Max this is Lorence my classmate when I was still in high school."

"Classmate" Lorence mumbled to himself.

"Hi Lorence nice meeting you, I'm Max." Max greeted him.

"Lorence we're getting a table now, see you later," Miya said before heading to the farthest vacant table.

Lorence decided to stay at the cafe observing the two. Although Miya is still bothered by the presence of Lorence she still tries her best to cover that anxiousness so Max will not find out.

"Miya, do you finish reading all of MXTX's novel?" Max's question brought her attention back.

"Yes, I've finished reading all of that long ago. I'm just rereading them now because I can't still get over them."

Miya said her eyes sparkled as she speaks. Whenever her favorite novel and author is brought up she always has the same reaction.

"Really? I'm so envious I recently just started to read her third novel. Btw her novel has a live-action adaptation do you want to watch it together?"

"I will definitely love to, we can share our thoughts while watching. I'm so excited right now."

Max is beaming with happiness "Well it's settled then, let's set a schedule when to watch it."

While Miya and Max were chatting happily,  Lorence on the other side is staring at them angrily but despite how angry he is, he chooses to wait patiently for Miya.

When Max is gone, Lorence took the chance to have a conversation with Miya.

"Miya let's talk, I won't take too much of your time."

Miya looks at him and smiles, but her smile is different from the way she smiles when she was talking to Max a while ago. "Sure, what do you want to talk about?"

"I'm leaving this place today, go back with me to the City."

"Hahahaha... What are you talking about? I live here so why would I go back with you? Don't make me laugh with your lame jokes Lorence." Miya said while laughing.

"Look I'm not joking, let's go back to how we were before," Lorence said seriously

Miya adjusted her expression before speaking again. "How we were before? Aside from being classmates in high school, what else is there? Don't tell me you want to be classmates again or you want to be high school students again? Sorry, but I have to decline your offer, first of all, we're college students now so there's no way I'm going back to high school, and second, I'm studying here so we can't be classmates anymore."

Lorence's brows furrowed, "Stop saying all of these nonsense things Miya, you know and understand what I'm saying. Stop acting like you don't know anything. You're just gone for more than a year but we're still not over. Our relationship... it's not over."
