One Hundred-Fourteen

*** KAREN'S FLASHBACK CONT' ***

He sat down next to me, but something was off. Normally as soon as he was in my company he relaxes but this time he hasn't. As he passes me a bowl of pasta, I ask,

"Wes, is everything okay?"

He seems to shake himself as he says, "Ahh... Yeah, everything is fine..."

I don't push and take a bite of the pasta he gave me; I give a little moan at the taste of it and hear a chuckle come from next to me. I open my eyes which I hadn't realised I had closed and looked at him.

"What? It is good."

"I'm glad you like it."

Once we have finished, Wes packs up the mess and moves it to the side. I lay down and look up at the moon and the stars. I laugh as all of a sudden Wes's face comes into my view. I look into his eyes and see something that I haven't seen in them since the first time we made love. I see worry in them. I put my hand on his cheek and whisper,
