Two Hundred-Forty-Five

I was the first to wake the next morning, and I felt good, sore but good. I smile to myself as Zachariah is lying with his head on my chest instead of the other way around. I slowly run my fingers through his hair, enjoying the peace and quiet.

I know the moment Zachariah starts to wake as his hand starts to slide slowly up and down my side. He then groans, moving his hand to his head and whispers,

“What the hell happened?”

I smile. “What do you remember?”

“Oh, my little warrior, don’t worry. I remember all of that. What I don’t remember is what I did to have one hell of a hangover. And that is saying a lot as we don’t get ”

“That must be the side effect of the antidote that Ava gave us last night.”

“Antidote?”

“Yeah, someone drugged me, forced my heat but instead of dissipating from my blood the strength of it was increasing and every time you bit me you were getting a dose of it keeping you on a type of high, wanting me all the time…”
