BLAKE It was now late July, and I was, once again, with my father and Beta Alfred in the packhouse office. We had spent the morning going over the pack budget with the pack accountant and office manager. JASMINE Emma and Kyle were married on a Saturday morning in mid-August. They had a small ceremony in the pack temple and invited their family and friends for an early-afternoon celebration in the backyard of Kyle’s parents’ house. JASMINE A few days after Blake’s confession, I was lying in bed late at night, absorbed in a book, when I heard a tapping on my window. Ping. The sound of something hitting the glass clanged.
