Chapter 3: The Serpent

“Whoaaaa!”

A sharp pain shot through my head. I pressed my hands against my throbbing temples trying to push the pain away.

“Be careful with that thing!” One of the frightened Villagers told me

“At least some of you could help me right?” I shouted as I continued my battle against the serpent.

No one answered my request. I can only see them with their legs shaking with their obvious fear and trepidation. Obviously, no one is going to help me beat this mythical creature.

“Great. Now I’m dead” I whispered to myself

How did this even happen?

Few hours earlier…

I woke up earlier than the usual. The sun was yet to rise and I estimate the time to be around 5 am in the morning. The first thing I did was to check on Liza. She was still sleeping soundly, so let us not disturb her. I planned on exploring the town today and attempt to sell the remaining of the glass pieces on my pocket. I do hope that they'll accept this so we can have enough money to buy supplies.

And that’s exactly what I did when she woke up. We went straight ahead to the town and looked for a pawnshop what would give us the money in exchange for this “diamond” piece.

After a few minutes of search we finally found one. The Ladies who were inspecting the material I brought were stunned. They claimed it to be one of the rarest diamond pieces the land has.

What a bunch of pathetic idiots LMAO.

Then the owner gave me 150 pieces of gold coins in exchange for all the pieces of the broken piece of glass I had. From what Liza have told me, 10 silver coins can be converted per 1 piece of gold coin, and a silver coin could be converted to 100 copper coins. Slowly, I’m starting to get the knowledge on how currency and money runs in this world.

Liza was just standing behind me, watching is awe as I fool people from the shop.

“You’re so awesome big bro! How did you managed to have that much of money?” she asked

“That’s a secret” I winked and the two of us laughed.

After I got the money, we bought things. We first bought food. Liza bought wheat, loaves of bread and kilos of grain. We also bought potteries, pans and cauldrons for cookery, wooden plates and utensils, and the like. I also had her choose five different types of dress and clothing available on the store. She didn’t want it at first, but I insisted on it which she gladly accepted. As for me, I bought a sword holster for my new sword. It should help me have my secret sword hidden. Our day ended with happiness and relief. Or so I thought…

Liza and I were happily walking on our way home with the things we bought, not until we felt an earthquake. The ground shakes violently and it didn’t stop for 5 minutes. After the earthquake, there, a very huge Serpent on which I measured around 30 feet in length rose from the hole it created on the ground. It released a very loud hiss and the people began screaming.

It was so tall and big that it can overshadow five-story building! I was amazed on

this creature! It was as Black as ebony and has very sharp and scary eyes. I always wondered what Titanoboa would look in real life! I was shocked in amazement that I didn’t even notice the people panicking and Liza, behind me shaking in fear.

“I’m scared Brother!” she said

“Let’s get out of here!” I snapped with her words and together, I carried her on my back as we ran away from the scene.

But then, I suddenly heard a voice of a crying kid. I located where the scream is coming from, and I was stunned to see that it was only a few meters away from the raging serpent! He could have died! I couldn’t bear to leave the kid and so I first took Liza to safety.

“Listen, I want you to stay here and don’t move until I come back okay?” I commanded

“Okay! I promise!”

I was about to leave when I felt a tug on the edge of my sleeves. I quickly turned to see Liza holding the edge of my long sleeve, trying to tell something

“Please come back safe” she worriedly said. My heart melted and I hugged her as tight as I could. I’m glad all the hardships I experienced in the past led me to my new family and sister, Liza.

“Brother it hurts!” she complained

“Oh, hahaha! I’m sorry! I’m going ahead then.”

I left her and as fast as I could, ran back to the scene where the Serpent is raging. I pulled out my sword holster from the behind and pulled it out and whistled to the huge majestic monster. His attention caught me and started to charge towards me.

“Let’s test what kind of powers Pops gave me!” I said into my mind as I also charged against the raging monster.
