Chapter 5: Moving out

Liza led them the way inside the hut. The man who seemed to be rich surprisingly entered our simple hut. It was unexpected for an elegant man to be seen in such place. The worst thing is, we have completely nothing to offer to them. There were ten people inside, including me and Liza. Not even the food we bought from the town will be enough for them so I instructed Liza to make Tea out of the wild ginger I saw from the backyard earlier and make loaves of bread from the wheat we bought.

After some preparations, latent smell of freshly baked bread spread into the air, meaning, the food was done and it was devoured by the guests. Thankfully, they seemed to have liked the Ginger tea and the bread Liza made. After the Guests have eaten the snack, Liza went outside to pick more ginger and to make another set of tea as we proceed to talk about the job offer he presented to me earlier

“Well, you could handle a serpent on which fifty trained men could hardly do. You have a lot of potential! I could help you maximize it to the fullest! Work for me and I’ll make you rich and powerful!” he proudly said.

The offer and his compliment were enticing. But I need to gently refuse. People would make fuss on abilities and my new; peaceful with Liza would be ruined. I won’t definitely let that to happen. 

“I’m sorry bu-“ I was about to complete the sentence when he suddenly said something

“I’ll make you the General of the entire army and you’ll live in a comfortable place. I’ll let you be the third to the most powerful man in the continent. You’ll earn thousands of gold monthly and you won’t have to live this miserable life anymore” he said

I was shocked. He mentioned the word 'continent'. This only means that he has a control of a huge part this land. How powerful and influential this guy is? I asked inside my mind. 

The men were also shocked. One even dared to question him.

“Sire, are you sure you want to do this?” asked the concerned knight behind him.

The Gentleman raised his hands and signalled his disagreement on the soldier.

“I know what I am doing.” He just said. 

The Knight who asked the question just apologized and remained quiet. Awkward silence rose into the atmosphere as I remained silent for a long period of time.

“Well, what do you think?” he said as he tried to break the awkward silence.

I finally understand. I have made my mind and I’ll be taking the offer. I'm quite sure on how my decision would turn out but this is probably for the best.

“Okay. I understand.” I said. The man was about to say something when a sad Liza interjected the conversation to ask me something. She was listening to their conversation all this time from behind the front door.

“Are you leaving me?” she said in a very sad tone

“Don’t be sad Liza. I’m not leaving you! I’ll be visiting you daily” I said as an excuse

“Is that a promise?” her voice was so sweet and warm. It made me made me hesitant of leaving her. But as hurtful and as sad I am, I need to do it. 

“Can’t I just go with you? I have no one else in my life! And I want to be by your side Brother! Please let me go with you” pleaded the sad Liza followed by a tight and warm hug.

Liza has become my family, a part of my new life in this new world. Leaving her alone to this lonely small, dirty hut, would be the worst thing I’d do in my entire life. But I’m nervous. She might not want to live in a completely unknown place. She would be more bored living with me. I can send her to school myself but compared to her current life, she has more freedom 

living here and leaving this house would mean leaving the memories she has with her late family. 

“But would you fine living in a Knights' stead? I’ll have you to go to school every day and you’ll also be seeing my face every second, every minute of the day. Plus, you’ll be leaving this house behind. Didn’t you say that you have a lot of good memories with your family here? Is that fine with you?” I asked her as serious as I could

“Yes! As long as I’m with Brother, I’m fine living anywhere!” she just said

“The memories will always stay in my heart and I’m completely contented and happy with my Brother now!” 

She looks motivated and I can see those eyes that what’s she’s telling to me is real and genuine. In the end, I sighed. My weakness seemed to be this girl.

“Okay then, pack your things and we’re leaving this place in a minute.” I sighed and instructed her with a smile

Liza shouted in joy and quickly ran to her room to quickly packed her things

“Very well” clapped the man

“Since you finally seem to agree on my offer, Please get on my carriage. I will give you a ride to my place. And there, I will show you your new home and your men" he excitedly said as he patted my shoulders

The Gentleman and I firmly shake hands and we get the ride on the way to the castle for three long hours. We continued out talk inside the carriage. We had a lot of fun 

and we quickly grew close to each other. We both share the same interests and we agreed on a lot of things! He has still yet to reveal his real identity to me and it drives me curious to know him even more. 

Speaking of Liza, she’s currently enjoying the scenery that was passing by the window of the Carriage.

From now on, this is my new home, my new world. I hope things will go well.
