Chapter 10 - Secrets

‘Crap! What’s going on now?’

Lynn was stunned as soon as he heard his girlfriend’s name being mentioned by this rich and untouchable woman.

Shannon is just a normal nurse who lives in a cheap 400 dollar apartment. Aside from that, she should be an orphan and grew up with her grandparents before they passed away after she turned 15.

This is what he knows about the past of his girlfriend. Then, he discovered that Shannon met Arial when they were young according to the photograph he had seen in the safe.

Now, even this woman knows Shannon? She’s even talking like Shannon would actually die if something went wrong to this Key?

“W-what do you mean by that?” Lynn unconsciously asked Clarice.

However, he immediately regretted that as the latter looked at him with doubtful eyes. Unlike Max and Harvey with full loyalty to him, this woman is certainly different. It means that she wouldn’t mind nitpicking at him if he made some weird actions or did something wrong.

“What are you talking about? Did you forget how important it is? I know you wanted to be strong. But it doesn’t mean you have to get too focused on it and forget all about other things. Sigh~ I think you should follow me for now.”

Clarice said as she stood up.

“B-but…”

“Just tell Harvey or Max or whoever’s with you that I’m taking you to Zed’s Casino. I’m not going to eat you up.”

“G-got it. I should be safe there, right?” Lynn asked cautiously.

“Huh? As long as you don’t cause trouble… Well, even if you did, as long as I’m with you, there’s no problem.” Clarice said as she clung to his arm and dragged him to her car.

Harvey who had been watching his boss secretly could only wryly smile and followed Clarice’s car.

Soon, he received a text message from Arial that he will be going to Zed’s Casino according to Clarice.

[ No problem, boss. I know that you had a problem with Tracy from that Casino the last time so I’ll be staying closely. Don’t worry. ]

Harvey texted Arial and reassure him about his safety.

“Hey, Harvey… Why do you think our boss is hiding his strength?” Max, who should be on a vacation asked. He’s currently beside Harvey in his car as they followed their boss.

“Hmm… I don’t know. We don’t even know about it until recently when he had no choice but to fight those assassins by himself.”

“Haa~ I guess he wanted to act weak to bait those kinds of assassins?” Max guessed as he looked at the car they were following.

When he was previously hired by Arial, he thought that he would be protecting a rich second generation while he act all and mighty.

However, he and Harvey saw how Arial was actually capable of Martial Arts as well!

Nevertheless, since their Boss wanted to act weak, they would, of course, play along with that and satisfy him with their performance.

“Whatever… It doesn’t really matter as long as we’re getting generous payment and incentives. There’s even a high chance that we could get something more if Boss Arial became the heir of that business tycoon.”

Harvey said calmly as he continued to drive.

They all have different reasons for joining Arial’s group of bodyguards although one of them is a professional Martial Artist and the other is an expert Assassin.

However, one thing is for sure, they are satisfied that their Boss is not some pushover that they had thought at first.

About 30 minutes had passed before Arial and Clarice arrived at the casino which is actually inside a Five-Star Hotel.

“Do you want to play around for a while?” Clarice asked as soon as they entered.

They were able to get in without being hindered by the guards as soon as they saw Clarice’s face.

It seems that she’s a VIP here or he wouldn’t even be surprised if their family owns this Hotel.

“No… I just want to know why you brought me here.”

“Of course, that is to refresh you about your mission! You can’t get too tangled with your worldly desires!”

Clarice said. She’s expecting Arial to get angry after saying this.

However, contrary to her expectations, Arial’s face actually lit up.

“T-that’s good… Isn’t it? Right… You need to refresh me about everything. You’re completely right!”

Lynn felt glad that she followed this woman here!

Will she finally clear things up for him?! Will he finally understand what’s going on?

He felt elated but he immediately hid it on his face after seeing how Clarice is looking at him with a weird face.

Clarice only sighed and she seemed to want to talk about something but noticing that they haven’t arrived in a room yet, she remained silent for now.

As soon as they entered a secret door deep inside the Casino where no one is coming, Clarice finally started talking.

“Haa~ I guess I’m right. I really should be visiting you from time to time. I know you have tons of enemies because of this matter. However, defeating your enemies is not your goal. Sooner or later, the Shadows will haunt you. We don’t know who they are but once they decided to target you, you won’t be able to get away with your current strength.”

Clarice said which Lynn listened intently afraid that he would miss some of her words.

‘Shadows… That term… It’s in Arial’s notes. I guess it’s a secret organization, huh. But they don’t seem to be targeting me as of yet. However, based on her words, I can be their target soon. Ugh… This Arial… if you have so many problems, why are you even still courting my girlfriend…’ Lynn analyzed her words and didn’t forget to diss Arial of course.

Anyway, he decided to ask questions later instead.

For now, he wanted to know why Clarice brought him inside a torture room or something!
