Chapter 3 - Visiting The Silver Crescent Pack

Christopher

Life has been unfair to me. It has separated me from everyone who was dear to me. I lost my parents, my brother, and my mate. It seems like I am cursed. I looked at the picture in my hand. My beautiful mate wrapped in my arms, smiling at me, looking as gorgeous as ever. It was supposed to be the beginning of our new life together, but it turned out to be a nightmare instead.

No matter how hard I tried, I could never forget that day. The day I lost almost every one of my family. I closed my eyes as a tear slipped past my eyes. My heart contracted painfully in my chest. It has been years, but the memory is still fresh in my head.

“Chris, we have to—-” My sister Brenna barged into my room, stopping mid-sentence when she noticed the picture in my hand.

“Don’t you knock?” I asked in an annoyed tone.

“Why do I have to knock?” She asked, shrugging her shoulders as she walked further into my room.

“Because they are called etiquettes,” I grumbled, wanting her to leave already.

“Whatever! I came here to remind you about your visit to the Silver Crescent Pack.” She said, rolling her eyes at me before she turned to look at me seriously.

“Chris,” she started, sighing. She sat beside me on the bed. “I know you love her, but you have to move on. She is gone. You can’t live your life drowning yourself in sorrow like this.” She continued giving my shoulder a comforting squeeze.

I know she is worried about me. I know she means well. I know she is probably right. However, her words only made my wounded heart bleed more. I couldn’t stop the anger bubbling inside me, and before I knew it, I pushed her hand away. Standing up in anger, I almost knocked her to the ground.

“What the fuck do you mean?” I growled, breathing heavily as my wolf clawed in my head to take over.

“She was my mate, my Luna, and the love of my life. You want me to forget everything and move on like nothing happened?” Her eyes widened in shock, sensing my anger. She immediately shook her head, taking a tentative step toward me.

“No, I didn’t mean it that way, Chris.” She said. She was panicking, her eyes shedding tears. “I promise, I didn’t mean it like that. Chris, you are my brother. I love you and I worry about you. I just want to see you happy.” She said, reaching out to comfort me, but I slapped her hand away. I wasn’t able to control myself anymore.

“Don’t fucking touch me,” I growled, and she flinched at the tone of my voice.

“All you have to do is leave me the fuck alone,” I shouted.

“Get the fuck out of my sight,” I growled, unknowingly using an Alpha command on her.

She nodded, taking a deep breath. Her eyes hardened as she looked at me. She turned and walked out of my room without looking back. I was losing my fight with my wolf. I screamed and growled, finally letting my wolf take over.

I woke up to the peaceful sound of the waterfall. I looked around to find myself in the woods. This has been my secret hideout ever since I was a kid. I used to come here to get away from everyone when I needed some alone time. I stood up, realizing I was in my wolf form.

I tried to recall how I reached here. After thinking for a while, I recalled how I lost control again. I have had no control over myself or my wolf ever since I lost my mate. It has been my breaking point. My sister was the only family I have left.

Fuck! I had hurt her with my words. I have to apologize to her. I turned around and sprinted for the packhouse. I can’t believe I lost control to an extent that I made my sister cry and I didn’t even care about it. I just hope she forgives me.

This is the fastest I have ever ran to get to my sister. I reached the packhouse in less than five minutes and went behind a tree to shift. I grabbed the basketball shorts from the clothes we hide behind the tree and pulled them on. I rush inside the packhouse and go looking for my sister, but she is nowhere to be found.

I panicked when I didn’t find her anywhere. I go to run out of the packhouse to look for my seventeen-year-old sister when I bumped into my Beta, Toby.

“I am sorry, Alpha. I was just coming to you.” He said, bowing his head respectfully.

“Whatever it is, will have to wait, Toby. I can’t find Breena, I have to look for her.” I reply moving to leave.

“Breena has left a message for you, Alpha.” He said, making me stop and turn around.

“Why did you have to come to me with a message? Where is she?” I asked, narrowing my eyes at him.

“She left to spend the weekend in her friend’s pack. She said, she will see you next week, when umm—” he replied, stopping mid-sentence uncomfortably.

“When?” I asked, already figuring what my sister would have said.

“When you are in a better mood…” he replied, trailing off in the end.

“Did she mention anything else?” I asked.

“She requested for you to attend the Moon Festival at the Silver Crescent Pack.” He replied. I sighed nodding my head. No matter how I feel, I can’t neglect my duties as an Alpha.

“Let me go get ready,” I said, turning to leave for my room. “Toby, you are coming with me, and please ask for someone to clean my room after we leave,” I ordered.

“Sure thing, Alpha,” he replied, running off to his wing.

I walked into my room, and as I predicted. I had destroyed everything in my anger. I ignored the mess I created and took a quick shower. I grabbed a pair of dark blue denim and a white button-down shirt. I wore them quickly and walked out of the packhouse.

I saw my car parked and my Beta sat in the driver’s seat, waiting for me. I got in the passenger seat and started our journey to the Silver Crescent Pack.
