The way Christian shoves my hand away has me shaken on the spot. Anticipation streams through my veins as I gawk up at him helplessly. He indeed looks angry and disappointed when he lifts his eyes at me.

I lose my voice to speak and stutter instead, "Chris, I— I really don't— don't know how this happened—"
