Chapter 79 : Two worlds

I open my eyes and find myself lying on Christian's chest. His eyes darted at the ceiling and I believe he hasn't sensed that I'm already awake now. He seems to be lost in his own thoughts and his ruddy eyes say that he hasn't slept the entire night. But among all this, he's still holding me so tightly.

I raise my hand closer to his frozen face and touch his cheek. As if a whiff of air brought him to his senses, he shudders with my touch and looks down at me. The next moment, his lips are on my forehead. I squeeze my eyes shut for those couple of seconds before he pulls me back.

"Slept well?"

"How can I not sleep well when you're there?" I whisper. "But you didn't sleep a bit"

"It's fine", he arranges my messy hair.

"Mrs. Scott woke up?" Kane appears there with a wider smile as I drift away from Christian.

"Were you all waiting for me to wake up?" I ask, frowning.

"Yeah. Christian wasn't moving at all because your sleep would be interrupted", he says.
