“Hey Dad.”

“Miranda?” I look up at her as she enters the study.

“I was wondering if I could sleep over at Jessie’s place tomorrow night.”

“A sleepover? I don’t mind. But your Mom and I were also planning on spending the weekend together at the lake house, where we’re planning the wedding.”

“I don’t feel like going Dad.” Miranda tells me in a soft voice.

“I understand but you have to be there. You don’t want to be left out, do you?”

“Please Dad.” Miranda begs.

I sigh. “I’ll let Snow understand that you want to have a sleepover at Jessie’s place. I’m sure she won’t mind. Will there be other girls?”

“It’s just Jessie and I.” She replies softly.

“Then I’ll have Joseph drop you off tomorrow after school.”

“Thanks Dad.”

“Don’t mention it. I just want to see you smiling always and since Jessie makes you smile, that’s just what we need. Know that Snow and I love you very much.”

“I know. You say it all the time.” Miranda replies and walks out quietly.
