Snow

“Miranda?” I knock on her door. “Can I come in?” I ask softly.

The door opens and Miranda looks up at me. “You can come in.” She opens the doors wider and lets me in. I walk to her desk and have a seat on her chair.

“Is there anything I can help you with, Mom?”

“I wanted to talk to you.”

“Come have a seat on the bed with me. It’s good that you brought this up.” I look at her with furrowed brows.

“It is?” I ask her and she nods. I sit beside her on the bed, kicking off my shoes and crossing my legs so that I’m sitting opposite her in the same position. She urges me to speak and I continue but then I ask her, “what is it that you think I’m bringing up here? I want to be sure that we’re on the same page here.”

“Aren’t you here to talk about us? You and I?” She waves her finger between us.

“I am.”

“Let me apologize first. I’ve always wanted to but I didn’t know how to bring it up.”
