Chapter 2 She Is Pregnant!

She cried bitterly as her heart was torn with pain.

Shock flashed through Carson’s eyes, but he still did nothing to stop what was happening. She saw him throwing away the handkerchief that he used to wipe his hands. While her clothes were being torn apart, he reached out his hand and gently stroked the woman's face in the black and white photo on the tombstone.

It was raining heavily. The weather in Cannesville, February, was freezing, but it was still not as cold as what Everly felt inside.

The blood on her forehead trickled down, and her beautiful pale face was painted red in contrast. She looked at the familiar figure with tears in her eyes, crying hysterically.

"Are you really going to do this to me?"

There was no response from him.

The cloth on her shoulder was torn open, and she was almost naked. The dirty hands of men reached out to grope her chest.

"Do you love her so much?"

He did not look at her. All he cared about was the woman six feet under the ground!

It was dark in the sky, and her tears were mixed with the rainwater. Every memory from the past six years flashed across her mind, like a large net, binding her up and choking her.

He was the one who held her to the clouds and then sent her to hell.

Was that woman so important to him?

Did he love Layla so much?

What about her?

What was she to him?!

"Ah!"

She did not know where she got the strength to break free suddenly. She charged forward and hit her head on the tombstone. Blood started trickling down her forehead.

"Young Master Baxter..." The bodyguards came in a hurry, trembling in fear for the mistakes they made.

"Oh, so you want to die?" His cold and thin voice came through. She saw his insidious-looking eyes through the blood that blurred her vision. He continued, "You wish you were dead!"

"Have her kneel here and send her to prison tomorrow morning for homicide charges."

His voice sounded from somewhere close, "Don't let her die. I want her alive to pay for what she has done!"

The last Everly remembered from him was his look of disgust when he looked at her, followed by the rain that could not seem to wash away the intensity of his gaze.

The bodyguards forced her to kneel. She stared at the photo of the woman in black and white, the same woman who said she would leave after receiving two million dollars.

The words he whispered in her ear as she lay in his arms that night came to her mind again…

"I love you."

So sweet and tender.

Everything was so ironic that she could not help but laugh.

The laughter became louder and louder, accompanied by tears that kept falling. She was as crazy as a madman.

It rained heavily in the dark night sky, and her laughter echoed throughout the cemetery.

After the last laugh, she finally fell to the ground.

Someone immediately came over in the rain. After a while, the doctor opened his eyes wide and looked at the person beside him in horror.

"She is pregnant!"

"What?"

The next day, the Supreme Court in Cannesville declared that Everly was sentenced to ten years in prison for intentional homicide.

Nine months later, the butler bowed to Carson respectfully and reported, "Sir, I just got the news that Miss Pattis cut her wrist with a broken toothbrush in prison and died."

The pen in Carson’s hand froze. The ink dripped into the paper from the tip of the pen, spreading into a large blotch.

"The prison has cremated Miss Everly. The urn is downstairs. What are you going to do with it?" The Butler continued to ask, "Do you want to bury it in the Baxter family's private cemetery?"

"No." Carson looked at the large drop of ink on the paper. Under the ceiling lights, his long eyelashes covered the expression in his eyes. He said ruthlessly, "She is not a member of the Baxter family. Bury her wherever."

"Yes, sir!"

The butler left, leaving him alone in the study.

He recalled the scene when he last saw Everly. She walked off the podium and silently followed the staff into the long corridor step by step.

She had not protested. She neither raised her head nor looked back at him. She walked straight to the door at the end of the corridor.

The heavy iron door slammed shut, and her figure completely disappeared from his sight.

He closed his eyes and did not speak a word. He was in the same posture, unmoving, until the dawn of the following day.
