Chapter 65 A Life of Both Joy and Suffering 

It was as if a thousand knives stabbed Carson's heart. The pain within him was intolerable. He hugged Everly. As he tried to get her up to leave, he felt something holding him back. He looked back and saw Everly holding the arm of the corpse next to her.

"Granny..." She seemed to be slowly coming back to her senses. Suddenly, Everly started shouting frantically, "Granny!"

Everly struggled hard in Carson's embrace. "I was wrong, please don't take Granny away!" she cried and begged.

"Everly, you are sick. You need to see a doctor now..."

"No! Don't take me away!" Everly screamed. Her expressions were unreadable. Her face was in a mess. Tears were flowing down her cheeks as she cried hysterically.

She somehow managed to gather the strength to break away from Carson, "I was wrong. Please…Please, don't kill my child!" Everly pleaded as she knelt and kowtowed on the floor.

"Everly!" Carson tried stopping her, but she kept kowtowing anyway.

"I'm begging you... If you want to punish me,

Why are you even there? You treated her so bad and now you're there pretending to care. You don't have that right. If she dies she'll at last have peace because she won't suffer anymore.
