CHAPTER 13

Marcus ignored his housekeeper's judgemental glare as she excused herself from his office. He had declined dinner, choosing whiskey in favor of whatever Charlene had made. Of course the older woman didn't approve of Marcus's drinking, and with good reason too, but she didn't say anything about it. 

And it was a good choice on her part because with the mood Marcus was in right now, he would have probably fired her if she had dared spoken out of turn.

As he downed the rest of his drink, he thought about how much his life would be easier if Angelique hadn't backed out of marrying him last minute. She was a professional and she fancied herself in love with him so she wouldn't cause any problems for him and she certainly wouldn't defy the way that little brat Diana did.

He still couldn't believe she had slapped him but what pissed him off the most was the growing friendship between her and Sebastian. He didn't like it on
