Chapter-2

CONTINUATION....

I took my seat and the meeting started. And he started saying something, which totally went over my head, totally bounced. Till then let me introduce him.

He is worldwide known as Rudra Malhotra. CEO of Malhotra Industries and Co. extremely rich but down to earth. I have known him since my college 3rd year. But me falling for him was a slow process. I actually thought of him to be generous and kind but as soon as I passed out of my medical College with my precious degree and started doing my internship in his hospital, he started to find reasons to actually insult me or demoralize me. I won’t say it didn’t hurt. It surely did but I am accustomed to bearing constant pain and hurt.

Well, he not only owns industries but also range of multiple resorts and hotels and a range of hospitals. Though he is the CEO but still the decision taking authority is his dad, Mr. Sandeep Malhotra. And trust me their relations are not at all good. They can’t even stand each other in the same room. And mostly would end up arguing about something or the other thin. His mother is Mrs. Gayatri Malhotra, a really sweet and generous lady. I have met her only 2 or 3 times that too when I operated his grandmother.  And his sister, Sanjana, is a sweetheart. She and I bonded really well since the time I treated his grandmother. She and me makeup a good pair.

My trance was broken when I heard him saying, “we should lessen the no. of free treatment patients, as we can see the profit graph has gone down and surely, we can’t handle losses. Moreover, we should increase the no. of VIP wards to compensate the loss. And I think we should- “to which I cut him off.

I stood up and turned to Mr. Sandeep Malhotra, and started, “I object to it sir... I don’t think it is a good idea. Lessening the no. of free treatments and the beds in general ward is not at all good. They come to us for treatment and that’s what our job is. It’s totally- “Rudra interrupted me and said, “but the loss is surely not going to lead us anywhere. We need to recover the losses and then the budget is to maintained. This is going to be a great loss to our business- “

Now, that was an end line to me. Surely, he can’t think of people’s life as business. And that’s what I did. I interrupted him and the one thing he hates to core is someone cutting him off while he talks. He only can withstand his mom, sister and grandmother interrupting him. And I knew that soon I am going to face his wrath.

“You possibly can’t think of people’s life as a business. I can’t believe this. Are you being serious??? I definitely and o so surely suggest to get your mental health checked up because nobody in their right mind would suggest doing such a thing. (Turning towards Mr. Sandeep Malhotra) sir I cannot withstand this meeting where people who don’t have money to feed themselves are going to lose the least of the treatment they get for free. And if it really is a big deal that your BUSINESS is going in loss just because of serving poor people than I am surely ready to give away my whole of salary and savings to this hospital so that Mr. CEO can feel his loss is compensated.” And with that I left the meeting room.

I am, not in my right mind, going to sit there silently and listen to all that bullshit. I was moving towards my cabin when a nurse approached me saying that there is a serious case but the family can’t pay for the treatment and he is not even allowed to be admitted. I rushed with her and reached the reception where I saw the family requesting to let the treatment happen and they’ll pay with everything they could. I went near to the boy who was made to lie on the floor as the stretcher was also not provided to them.
