Chapter 4: Mommy or Daddy?

Rui was frightened when she saw Chase again. He looked ten times more handsome than before.

What's more, Eon looks just like his dad.

It's frustrating.

If she wants to keep her peace with Eon, then she has to restrict him when they are going out.

While she was busy thinking of ways to hide Eon from Chase, she saw her baby boy walking downstairs with his bunny plushie in his arms.

“Mommy you're late.”

She stood up and carried Eon up. “Mommy is sorry to my handsome baby, okay?”

While they were walking towards their room, she asked, “How's your day with Uncle Carter?”

The little boy snuggled deep in her arms. “Uncle is still the same as before, we played board games and puzzles.”

Rui thought of how Eon and Chase looked extremely similar. He would know at a glance that Eon is his son.

What if Chase takes Eon away?

Just the thought of it scared her. She cannot let go of her baby no matter what.

She can cancel the half-year contract with the university and hide somewhere. She can still earn money by working menial jobs. Besides, she has saved enough money for her and Eon. With this amount of money, they can live a comfortable life for the rest of their lives.

But she can't terminate it. Not until she punished the people behind her parent's death.

She gently laid Eon down on their bed.

“Baby?”

The little boy hummed in response.

“If you were given a choice, who would you pick? Mommy or Daddy?” she nervously asked.

The boy noticed that her Mommy's hands were trembling so he held them with his small hands. “I would always pick Mommy. Even if Daddy is with us, Mommy is the one I love the most.”

She felt a surge of warmth in her heart when she heard her son's reassuring words.

This much is enough.

She only needs Eon in her life.

“Thank you, baby…”

The next day, Carter proposed that they go out to eat tonight because Eon was extremely bored at home.

Rui hesitated to bring Eon out but she still obliged.

She just has to pick a lowkey restaurant that serves good food.

The kind where she won't see Chase.

She quickly brushed away the thoughts of seeing that man again.

She only needs to focus on her child. That's all that matters.

“Uncle Jun, are you sure you won't join us?” Rui asked the old butler.

Butler Jun just waved his hand and dismissed her. “You youngsters go on. We still have a lot of opportunities next time. I still have to settle some things here.”

Rui nodded and entered the black BMW. She fiddled something on her phone before passing it to Carter. “Just follow this, Cart. My family always eats here at Runes.”

While they were on the way for dinner, she heard Eon ask, “Didn't you say that we don't have neighbors? Then whose house is that?”

The little boy pointed at a modern mansion that was protected by a massive automatic gate. He saw a black Jeep Wrangler driving inside the mansion.

“Perhaps they're new here. I've been away for so long so I don't know who that neighbor is.”

The boy nodded and focused his attention on the book in his hands. It was the book, “Calculus for babies” that he thought was not interesting enough but he had to make do since his mother filtered out his books. When she heard the weird question the other day, she confiscated all the books that were not appropriate for his age.

'Mommy left this to me since it's too elementary' the boy snorted inwardly.

“What's the square root of 961?”

He heard his mom suddenly ask so he answered quickly, “31. Mom, give me something harder, this is so easy.”

Rui smirked and said, “It's just a warm-up. I thought you'd be rusty just because we haven't practiced for a few days.”

Carter joined the two in their banter and suggested, “Rui ask some calculus refresher for Eon since he's holding a basic calculus book.”

Rui clapped her hand to get Eon's attention, “Okay! What's the integral of the square root of x? Very easy! You have five seconds.”

Rui and Carter counted down, “5…4…3…” then they heard Eon answer, “Two x raised to three halves all over three.”

Rui patted the head of her son and exclaimed, “Okay good! Your brain is still working!”

Eon just smirked and arrogantly said, “Easy!”

Just when Rui was about to ask another question, she noticed that they were near the restaurant. “We're near, baby. Let's fix my baby's look!”

Carter glanced at Rui dotingly and smiled.

She's hands-on with Eon.

The majority of Eon's development was because of her.

Eon first started reciting alphabets when he was 6 months old. Rui will play piano for Eon while singing the alphabet, periodic table, and basic mathematical theories. That's how Eon was able to learn quickly. It's because of her educational songs.

At first, Rui was singing those for herself so she wouldn't forget the foundation of mathematics and chemistry while she was busy taking care of her baby. But her routine exercises became an effective learning guide for her child.

Eventually, when the little boy could walk, he was brought to the labs and office of the university. He was often left with Professor Angus, Rui, and Carter's teacher. Then the old professor will bring the little boy to his meetings with other university executives.

So Eon was taught by various experts in the field of science and humanities. It's no wonder that the child is intelligent and witty.

Rui brushed Eon's bangs to the side and fixed his gray hoodie with cat ears. “All set! My baby is so handsome! You look a lot like mommy!”

Eon furrowed his brow when he heard his mom and thought, 'As long as you're happy…'

Carter left the car to the attendant before entering the restaurant.

He held Eon's right hand while Rui was holding Eon's left hand. They look like a happy family of three.

Since she was more familiar with the restaurant, she took the initiative to order for them.

While they were waiting for their meal to be served, they asked each other several practice questions like they usually do.

One of the guests found the interaction between the three cute and took a video of them. The video only caught Carter's side profile and his broad body was enough to cover the mother and son from the angle of footage. But their voices were heard crystal clear. Soon after they posted the cute family of geniuses.

Rui, Carter, and Eon were oblivious to the fact that they were now famous online. They just continued to eat as usual.

“Rui, you'll start reporting to the University of Centriona tomorrow, right?” Carter asked.

“Hm, how about you? When will you start?”

“I'll start next month. In the meantime, you can leave Eon with me.”

“Then I'll leave him in your care. Sorry to trouble you, Cart.”

Carter just chuckled and pinched her cheeks.

“Hey!” Rui slapped his hands away.

Carter was not fazed at all and continued to pinch her cheeks.

Eon who was looking from the side, 'Uncle is still in the friendzone. A pity…'

Chase's assistant who was busy scrolling on social media came across the viral video of Rui, Eon, and Carter.

“Hey, this family is insane! Genius child, why is he not on the video. I wonder what he looks like? The dude looks handsome. What about the Mom?”

That’s what I said! You need to ask permission. The story should be more realistic

Why do all these writers write about hiding babies. To many books about babies being far intelligent and hiding their fathers before the mother can tell them. So stressful already
