Alpha Kane grabbed Hayley by the upper arm, while staring down at her.

"My office, now!" He roared, but Hayley gave a smirk.

"I'm not a wolf, so that won't work on me."

Alpha Kane gave a growl before picking Hayley up to throw her over his shoulders.

Davina looked stunned, for she thought Kane would punish Hayley, not having her on his back while she had a smile on her face.

"I'll handle her accordingly. Run home now,’’ Alpha Kane told the girls.

Hayley kicked, punching at Alpha Kane's back, "put me down you freak."

"Stop, they are gone." Kane said before slapping Hayley on the ass, causing her to laugh.

"You can put me down now."

"Why are you always in the middle of a fight?"

"Why must every fight have me in the centre? Have you ever thought it was not me, but them?

Hayley relaxed on the Alpha’s shoulder, "you know how your stupid pack is. They mock me for not having a wolf. I am the outcast, the little bitch."

Kane scoffed, "you do have a wolf. You are just a late bloomer."

It was Hayley's time to scoff, "if every time I hear that bullshit, and it could get me one step closer to shifting. I'd be a wolf by now.

"Maybe when you are finally 18."

"Or never. When will you see that I am human? I need to find my family because I am not cut out for this life.

"So, you want to leave me?"

Hayley was silent for a while.

“We both know that this has to stop soon, I mean. Every day, you get closer to finding your mate."

Kane didn't respond. He only walked on until he arrived at the pack house, still he didn't put Hayley down until they got to his office, where he let her sit on his desk.

"Listen, Hayley-"

"No Kane, you listen. You can't keep me here just to occupy your time. My family might be out there looking for me and I will never know them if you refuse to let me leave."

Kane caressed Hayley's cheek with a thumb. "I care for you more than you ever know. Why do you think I always come to your rescue just when you need it most, or why I treat you differently from the rest?"

Hayley looked away from Kane's impassive golden eyes. As much as she liked him, she still couldn't bring herself to fall for him too much. But then again, how could she not? Kane made it impossible for her to ignore him. Everything made him irresistible, from his strong jawline that could cut concrete to his straight nos that would flair whenever he was upset. Down to his undeniable good looks that put Henry Cavill to shame.

Kane's thick pink lips met Hayley’s, kissing her softly. He let out a growl, forcing his way between her legs, but she pushed him away.

"You need to slow down."

"You know how much I need you."

"You don't need me Kane, you only want me until your mate comes."

"No, I wish I could take you right now and leave my mark on you."

"We both know that is impossible in so many ways. I have to be 18 to bear the mark of my mate, and only my mate. Which can only be attained after sex, and only my true mate can break that seal, so until then. Just kissing."

Kane scoffed, then crashed his lips back onto hers, placing his hands under her back, lifting her off the desk and took a sit so that she was sitting on top of him.

"Until then, let’s please just enjoy the moments."

"As you wish, Alpha." Hayley said in an almost mocking tone, kissing him again.

Kane growled and pull back, "I want to ask you something."

"What?" Hayley asked.

"Not yet. I have to wait until the time is right." Kane told her.

"You can be so frustrating at times, you know that?"

“Says the pain in my ass." Kane chuckled.

Hayley knotted her in his shoulder length, sand-blonde hair and pulled his head back.

"If you would just grant me my wish and allow me to leave, I would be that pain anymore."

"I can't allow that Hayley, you don't know the first thing about being human and the world that you want to enter."

"Hello, I am human." Hayley waved at herself.

"What continent are we on?"

Hayley opened her mouth, then closed it.

"I never learnt that. They don't teach us those things in school. Just crap about Timber wolves, and other non-human stuff."

"Learning about Timber wolves, also called the red wolves isn't crap."

"See that? The teachers can't even teach. I didn't know that they were called red wolves, too. Tell me more.''

"I thought it was crap."

Hayley turned her head away from his words and pouted.

Kane hooked his finger under her chin, forcing her to look at him, where he kissed her deeply.

When he pulled away, he said. "Timber wolves are the most powerful wolves this world has ever seen. They possess powers far greater than any other wolf and just one member can talk down an entire pack."

"Oh, wow." Hayley said after Kane paused.

"They were blessed by the moon goddess and cursed by Zeus, or so I have heard."

Just then, there was a knock at the office door. Hayley hurried to get off Kane’s lap. While he moved his hand in a circular motion to mask her scent and hide her presence.

"Alpha, there is a passing pack. They are seeking shelter until the morning."

Kane nodded at the female that was talking to him. “Give me a minute."

Kane crossed his office back to Hayley.

"And not to mention that we have to be hiding this from everyone.'' Hayley didn't meet his eyes.

"You understand why."

Kane pulled two books off the shelf, handing them to Hayley.

"These two books have some information on the Timber wolves, it's not much, but it's still an interesting read."

"Yeah, whatever." Hayley said.

"Get comfortable. I'll be back shortly." He kissed her, then left the office.
